12 Restaurants for Valentine’s Day Dinner (2015)

As 14 February is fast approaching, I decided to compile a couple of romantic restaurants in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor where you can bring your date to for a nice Valentine’s Day dinner. This is quite a long feature as I’ve compiled the special menus/ promotions that 17 restaurants are offering for Valentine’s Day this year as well as some offerings from florists (which are right at the bottom of this post).

In previous years, I have spent a lot of time searching online for nice restaurants where I could bring my date and as I’ve done some reviews at a couple of restaurants which I believe are quite suitable for a Valentine’s Day dinner, I’ve decided to compile this list to help you out. Below are some options with different price ranges to suit different budgets and I have also included a link to my review if I’ve dined there before.

 

1. Pietro Ristorante Italiano at Damansara Heights

Chic and classy interior with nice Italian food which doesn’t cost and arm and a leg even though it’s located in the upmarket Damansara Heights. Parking is a breeze too in the evenings.

Hint: Do book early and request for one of their private rooms!

2. Villa Danieli at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur

This restaurant has a very romantic ambience indeed and the Italian food is pretty good too. The hotel informs me that the restaurant is fully booked every Valentine’s Day so do book EARLY!

Now here’s a look at their special Valentine’s Day menu:

Garoupa and smoked salmon terrine with olive tapenade, arugula jelly, cherry tomato and extra virgin olive oil

Entree

Raspberry risotto with shredded duck leg confit

Strawberry lychee sorbet

Main

Sous vide veal tenderloin with spinach-asparagus puree, orange glazed baby carrot, rosemary bread crumble and Pomegranate foam

Seared tuna with truffle potato mousse, fine bean, poached quail egg, orange relish and red pepper coulis

Rich ricotta cream and berries compote in white chocolate shell

 

This 5-course dinner is priced at RM488.00++ per couple and is only on 14 February 2014 from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. If you’d like to have a wine pairing with your food, just top up an extra RM200++ (per couple).

3. Marini’s on 57

Now I’ve never actually had a sit down meal at Marini’s on 57 although I’ve been there for many events and I must say that their buffet spread or canapés during events is the best I’ve had in Kuala Lumpur so I’d imagine that their normal menu should be just as good.

4. Grill 582 at Plaza Ramada Dua Sentral

(formerly known as Best Western Premier Dua Sentral)

Grill 582 is another hidden gem that’s located at the Plaza Ramada Dua Sentral Hotel in Brickfields down the road from KL Sentral. A bit tricky if you’re not too familiar with the roads but I’d suggest you use the Federal Highway or Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin (where the old KL Railway Station is) to access Jalan Tun Sambanthan.

The first couple who makes a booking and payment for the wine pairing menu will receive a complimentary night stay in the One Bedroom Suite inclusive of buffet breakfast.

5. THIRTY8 at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

THIRTY8 at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has always been one of those romantic spots for couples. This Valentine’s Day they have a special five (5) course menu which comes with two (2) glasses of champagne which you can sip on while enjoying the romantic ambience and the view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

Tomato petal confit

Goat cheese powder, tomato consommé droplets, micro leaves, extra virgin olive oil

THIRTY8’s  Valentine’s Day Sharing Set Menu is inclusive of two glasses of champagne and is priced at RM688.00++ per couple.

 

The hotel also has a special ‘Romantic Sanctuary’ package at the Essa Spa, featuring a deep, calming massage treatment with natural blends of jasmine, ylang ylang and bergamot. The package is priced at RM950.00++ per couple, and includes a 60-minute Essa Dream State Massage, a 30- minute Jasmine Smooth Body Scrub, a 30-minute Aroma Flower Bath, a glass of champagne with strawberries for two, and a box of chocolates.

6. Nook at Aloft KL Sentral

Nook is Aloft KL Sentral’s all day dining restaurant and has a really chic and modern design but as they have demonstrated during last year’s MIGF, their kitchen team is capable of coming out with some really cool menus too!

The special Valentine’s Day menu at Nook is RM228.00 nett per couple or RM338.00 nett per couple with beverage pairing. Pretty reasonable if you ask me and I’ll be headed over soon to try this out for myself so do look out for a full review of their Valentine’s Day menu coming soon!

7. Chatz Brasserie at PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur

Now if your girlfriend is a big eater and loves seafood, you could try out the special Valentine’s Day Seafood Buffet Dinner at Chatz Brasserie in PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur  where you and your girlfriend can indulge in a variety of marine harvest namely, clam, black mussel, grilled seafood ranging from stingray, fish fillet, and salmon head, jacket fish, as well as shellfish such as slipper lobster and oyster.

The Crab Tartar with Potato Floss and Jellied Tomato Jus, Seared Crusted Tuna and Smoked Mackerel Platter and Japanese Mini Octopus and Mussel Salad on Carrot and Cucumber Pickle are among the appetisers and salads that are available.

At the a la minute counter, the chefs will be serving made to order Crab and Oyster Omelette. You can also expect main dishes such as Pan-seared Cod Fillet with Creamy White Part Leek Stew, Oyster Thermidor, Latche Squid, Sichuan Prawn Peppercorn, Oxtail Asam Pedas and Siput Lemak Keladi.

The ‘Valentine’s Day Seafood Buffet Dinner’ is available on 14 February 2015 from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, priced at RM258 nett per couple. Included in this buffet is a Cupid’s Mocktail or Cocktail and a stalk of rose for the lady.

8. Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Gobo Upstairs Lounge & Grill is located on the 6th floor of Traders Hotel KL and offers a scenic view of the Petronas Twin Towers which is right across the park from the hotel.

9.  Tuscany at Putrajaya Marriot Hotel

I’ve never been to Tuscany so I can’t tell you much about it however you might want to consider it if you don’t want to go to an establishment in KL/ PJ and bump into another 293,781 other couples out for their Valentine’s Day dinner.

10. Monte’s by Lyn at Bangsar Shopping Centre

Another option that won’t burst your budget or tear a hole in your pocket, and is centrally located in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC). The mainstay Western restaurant of BSC for over 10 years now has just been taken over by a new management who’s looking to bring some exciting changes to the menu. If you like rustic and unpretentious food in a comfortable setting then Monte’s by Lyn is the place to go this Valentine’s Day.

11. The Roof Garden at Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur

The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur has an unrivalled package for lovebirds this Valentine’s Day – A Romance Under The Stars. Couples will get to experience a special five-course dinner paired with fine wine at The Roof Garden specially prepared by the Executive Chef. The package includes a bottle of pink rose champagne, a bottle of Opus One wine, a two days one night stay in a Governor Suite at The Majestic Wing, and a couple’s spa treatment at The Majestic Spa. This special package is priced at RM6,888++ per couple. 

If you’re looking to pop the question, this might just be the place to do it…

And the hotel also has special menus in the Smoke House, the Orchid Conservatory as well as Colonial Cafe.

 

Dinner in the Orchid Conservatory is priced at RM1,000.00++ per couple and is limited to only three (3) couples.

12. Signature by The Hill at The Roof, First Avenue Bandar Utama

Dine with a spectacular view of PJ and Damansara 28 storeys above ground. I fully suggest that you book early and get a window seat (alcohol beverage surcharge applies to secure one of the very limited window tables) as it had a very high romantic factor (read my review here – https://timchew.net/2013/11/13/dining-with-a-view-signature-by-the-hill-at-the-roof-first-avenue-bandar-utama/).

This year’s Valentine’s Day package at Signature by The Hill features dinner with a choice of one (1) main that comes with an entrée, dessert buffet, and a champagne cocktail. Be entertained by Nana Lee who is Super Idol Taiwan 2013 in Signature or head up to Stratosphere (the helipad) where you get a complimentary lovers cocktail and 20% discount off Veuve Clicquot champagne.

 

 

You could also elevate your dining experience by having your Valentine’s Day dinner up at Stratosphere which is the helipad. The special 4 course dinner is priced at RM988.00 nett per couple with complimentary one (1) Veuve Clicquot champagne bottle. There are only 20 tables available so do book early!

Mezze has a special 3-course “aphrodisiac” dinner this Valentine’s Day featuring dishes from past visiting Michelin star chefs, Baptiste Fournier and Marco Cavallucci, re-created by their resident head chef, Yves Renou and his team.

14. Madisons at Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar

Madisons is my favourite modern Western restaurant along Jalan Bangkung in Bangsar and serves up some really delicious food. Their three (3) course Valentine’s Day menu is only RM120.00++ per person making Madisons a very viable option indeed!

15. Cedar on 15, Impiana KLCC Hotel

Dine 15 storeys above ground with a really romantic ambience. The bar where you can have before/ after dinner drinks offers a great view of the Petronas Twin Towers. There’s also a special Valentine’s Day buffet dinner at Tonka Bean which is the hotel’s all day dining restaurant but I’d really recommend dining at Cedar on 15!

16. La Cucina and the Executive Lounge at Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar

Pullman Kuala Lumpur Bangsar will be having a special “Love Is In The Air” 4-course romantic western dinner at the Executive Lounge. The Executive Lounge on the 26th floor which offers a view of the city skyline is normally only accessible to executive guests however the hotel has opened it up to outside guests just for this romantic occasion. 

The culinary team has prepared three (3) options for each course to cater to each individual’s taste buds and dinner is also complemented with a glass of champagne both for each of you. The “Love Is In The Air” Valentine’s dinner package is priced at RM250.00 nett per person and is limited to 35 tables.

Meanwhile, the La Cucina Mediterranean Restaurant which is located at the hotel’s main lobby offers a 4-course candlelight dinner that comes with a glass of red wine each, priced at RM160.00 nett per person.

17. Estilo Spanish Tapas & Bar at Publika KL

If you’re on a smaller budget, you could opt for Estilo Spanish Restaurant & Bar in Publika KL which also has a nice ambience and delicious Spanish food. Do book ahead as I’m sure Publika will be a very hot destination for couples this Valentine’s Day.

One of the mainstays of Spanish cuisine in Kuala Lumpur is offering a three (3) course menu with wine at only RM280.00++ making this another very affordable option!

Despite numerous emails to the PR department at Saujana Resort, they have not responded but my last review at The Restaurant was one of the most memorable ever so I’ve included it in anyway:

 

20. The Restaurant at The Club Saujana Resort

The Restaurant is tucked away at The Club Saujana Resort and is one of the little gems in this side of town (which incidentally happens to be where I stay so yay!). There are also a couple more dining options at Saujana Resort including Italian restaurant Senja and Japanese restaurant Kogetsu which both overlook the lake and are very suitable for a Valentine’s Day dinner! After dinner, take a romantic stroll along the lake if the weather permits.

Do remember to book early as you can bet that loads of couples who stay/ work in the PJ/ Subang area will be celebrating there.
