[Restaurant Review]
The previous time I did a review at Signature by The Hill at The Roof in First Avenue Bandar Utama was back in November last year. That time my then partner in crime was celebrating my birthday with me and as The Roof was barely open for more than a month, the menu at Signature was rather limited. Well you can read more about that visit here – https://timchew.net/2013/11/13/dining-with-a-view-signature-by-the-hill-at-the-roof-first-avenue-bandar-utama/
Fast forward a couple of months and Signature has its full menu up and running and I thought it would be nice to bring Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers’ Shelyn Ooi and Fione Ooi (no they are not sisters) over for dinner and drinks.
Watermelon Slush (vodka + midori + lychee liqueur + watermelon) – RM40.00
So refreshing and sweet you’d easily forget that there’s alcohol in this cocktail…
Seared Duck Breast with Spicy Apple Sauce – RM45.00
Delicious, flavourful and tender duck breast nicely complemented by the spicy apple sauce. Very nice but I wish there were more slices of the smoked duck!
Black Cod – Pan seared fillet served with braised leek and fennel topped with tomato jam – RM55.00
Perfectly cooked so that the fish retained its moisture. The bits of caviar on top were decadent and the salty flavours went well with the leek.
King Prawn Linguine – Jumbo prawns sautéed in olive oil, garlic, chilli flakes, served with black caviar – RM49.00
The black caviar made its appearance on this dish as well. I really couldn’t get enough of the sauce that the jumbo prawns were served in. If only they bottled and sold it for diners to bring home. I’d definitely buy a whole carton of it.
A closeup look at the prawns.
Brontosaurus Beef Ribs – served with spicy wedges and mixed salad – RM93.00
This was a favourite of mine back since the days when Signature was at The Hill. Good to see that this dish has been brought over to the roof. Delicious slabs of juicy and tender beef served on the bone and topped with BBQ sauce.
Spicy Chocolate Lava – chilli chocolate lava cake served with Kahlua infused mascarpone, berries compote – RM22.00
Pavlova – a meringue based dessert with a crisp crust and soft light filling inside – RM22.00
Not too sweet while the berries and fruits on top lent some acidity to balance out this creamy dessert.
Trio Creme Brulee – ginger, coffee, classic flavours – RM19.00
My favourite was the coffee flavour being the coffee addict that I am! The ginger one has a nice zing to it.

Shots anyone? B-52 shooter which is a layered shot composed of a coffee liqueur (Kahlúa), an Irish cream (Baileys Irish Cream), and a triple sec (Grand Marnier).
Milo Ais (right) – RM28.00
This is not your ordinary Milo Ais! This one has liquor and liqueur in it but tastes just as delicious (if not more delicious for drinkers like me) than the real thing.
