Before dinner you can chill out in the lounge and have a few drinks. I chose to have a pint of Asahi Super Dry draught first before dinner.

This year’s Valentine’s Day package at Signature by The Hill at The Roof, First Avenue Bandar Utama features dinner with a choice of one (1) main that comes with an entrée and dessert buffet, and a champagne cocktail for each of you. Yes this is a slight departure from the normal Valentine’s Day dinners where each course if served to you but hey look at it this way – you get to try all the different entrées and desserts instead of being stuck with something that you may not like. What’s even better is that you can have as much as you want!

Providing the entertainment for the night in Signature is songstress Nana Lee who is Super Idol Taiwan 2013. You may also head up to Stratosphere (the helipad) after 10.00pm where you will get a complimentary lovers cocktail, and 20% discount off Veuve Clicquot champagne.

The nice folks over at The Roof invited me and my partner in crime to try out their special Valentine’s Day menu. Actually come to think of it, my partner in crime and I are very blessed to have been hosted for multiple Valentine’s Day menus each year. Many thanks to The Roof for this experience and here’s our experience.

Summer Salad with prawns, baby octopus, lychee and greens with a light sesame dressing

So help yourself with the entrée, but do remember to keep some room for the main and dessert. For the main, you get to choose from a selection of five (5) different mains. We opted to try these two (2) mains:

Signature’s version of the traditional English Beef Wellington is not the usual long Beef Wellington which is carved up into slices. This one comes in single portions, and this was cooked to medium rare which is the way I prefer to have my beef. The inside of the light puff pastry was lined with chicken liver (which replaces the traditional prosciutto) and mushroom duxelle which imparts some rich and earthy flavours to this dish. You’ll be pretty full after finishing this dish so don’t have too much entrées!

Black Cod served with wild mushroom risotto cakes with red bell-pepper butter sauce and topped with alfalfa tobiko. I really couldn’t get enough of the spicy butter sauce which went so well with the cod. The tobiko added a little decadence while the earthy flavours and variation of texture of the mushroom risotto cakes helped to balance out this dish. I certainly hope this dish makes it to the regular menu as I’d happily order it again!

There are other main dishes such as Roasted Salmon, Lamb Shank, and Duck Confit Mushroom for you to choose from. For dessert, once again you get to help yourself to as much as you want from the dessert buffet spread.

Here are some of Signature’s best-selling desserts:

Spicy Chocolate Lava – chilli chocolate lava cake served with Kahlua infused mascarpone, berries compote

This is a fire and ice dish and yes the chocolate lava cake is actually spicy but fret not as it’s not unbearably spicy. Anyway there’s always the ice cream to cool it off.

Pavlova – a meringue based dessert with a crisp crust and soft light filling inside

Not too sweet while the berries and fruits lent some acidity to balance out this rather creamy but nonetheless very delicious dessert.

The special Valentine’s Day dinner at Signature is priced at RM199.00++ per pax and is only available for dinner on 14 February 2015. Dinner will be separated into two (2) sittings and you can call Signature to find out the times.

As Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday night this year, my suggestion is to choose the second seating. That was you can chill with some beers or drinks in Malt & Leaf and perhaps grab some light bites there before dinner, then head to Signature for your dinner, then up to Stratosphere for your cocktail/ champagne, before ending your night in PLAY!

You could also elevate your dining experience by having your Valentine’s Day dinner up at Stratosphere which is the helipad. The special 4 course dinner is priced at RM988.00 nett per couple with complimentary one (1) Veuve Clicquot champagne bottle. There are only 20 tables available so do book early!
