[Chinese New Year Special]

 

Headed over to the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Renaissance Hotel Kuala Lumpur on a bright sunny afternoon for the media preview of their Chinese New Year (2015) festive menus featuring fine flavours of Cantonese cuisine. This special offering includes pork (ie. non-halal) and is only available from 2 February until 5 March 2015.

Executive Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin and his team of chefs have created a special menu this Chinese New Year focusing on the use of traditional ingredients while emphasizing on light and fresh flavours. There are three (3) festive set menus namely Happiness Set, Fortune Set and Longevity Set priced from RM1388++, RM1638++ and RM2288++­­ respectively for groups of ten (10) persons. There is also a set menu for 2 persons priced at RM388++; and for 6 persons priced at RM808++, and both come with yee sang.

Speaking of yee sang, Dynasty Restaurant offers 6 types of yee sang this Chinese New Year – Salmon, Fruity Fiesta, ‘Fu kwei” abalone, Lobster & salmon, Abalone & salmon and Hokkaido scallop. They are available in “half-serving” and “full serving” portions which you can dine in or take-away. The Yee Sang is priced from RM88++ to RM238++.

 

This yee sang is pretty refreshing and is a nice change from all the normal ones! Extra points from me for the addition of the strawberries and blackberries!

The poon choi comes in two (2) variants namely the standard one and a premium one with abalone.

Delicious and tender roasted chicken!

Some slices of abalone atop a typical Chinese New Year dish which I quite love but only eat during Chinese New Year because it’s not the healthiest of dishes with the high sodium content from the waxed meats. This one was pretty delicious and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Dynasty Restaurant is open daily for lunch from 12.00noon to 2.30pm and dinner from 6.30pm to 10.30pm. Dim Sum breakfast is served from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Sundays and Public Holidays (dinner hours are as usual). Dynasty Restaurant is located on the 1st Floor, in the East Wing of the hotel.
