[Food & Beverage]

As some of you may have noticed if you follow me on Instagram @timchew1311 and on my Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/timchewkc), over the past month I’ve been field-testing the newly launched Sony a5100.
Earlier this year I did a review of the Sony a5000 and you can read my posts here:
https://timchew.net/2014/05/12/sony-alpha-5000-bloggers-preview-2/
https://timchew.net/2014/05/23/sony-alpha-5000-user-review/
The new Sony a5100 is the NEX 5T’s replacement model and fills the gap between the Sony a5000 which caters for more casual users, and the Sony a6000 which is powerful enough to satisfy more advanced photography enthusiasts.
Now I strongly believe in doing field-tests to try out a camera’s capabilities and not solely rely on the product specs, so I decided to bring the highly portable Sony Alpha 5100 around with me during some non-work related activities over the past week.
First up was breakfast with my partner in crime at Artisan Roast Coffee in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail.

I don’t want to say too much about the camera as I prefer to let the photos speak for themselves. One thing I really liked was the hybrid auto-focus system which comes from the Sony a6000 which is really fast and accurate!
I believe most casual users can create some pretty good images with this new camera. But put it in the hands of a pro and this camera shows you what it can really do. Here’s what MHB’s official photographer Andy Kho (www.andykho.com) shot with the Sony a5100 at the media launch in Bangsar recently – http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.750427075003762.1073741959.123911204322022&type=3
