[Food & Beverage]

Made my way over to The Point along Jalan Kasah in Damansara Heights, Kuala Lumpur for their exclusive media preview which included a tour of their multi-storey outlet and an introduction to some of their signature dishes. Located along Jalan Kasah (behind Victoria Station) which is well known for restaurants and bars such as Vintry, Ribs by Vintry, and Mezze, The Point is a modern and cosy restaurant, bar and lounge that offers casual European, Asian and Mediterranean dining.

My partner in crime for the night – Grace eventually arrived after she finished work.

Pictured below are some of The Point’s signature dishes (click on the individual photo to open a larger version).
The media got to try some that evening however as there were quite a lot of people present I only managed to try the Beef Tataki which was torched rare beef with truffle-scented yuzu shoyu, and the Pork Belly Bun which was served with sesame, coriander and sriracha dressing. The Beef Tataki was a really delicate dish with the beef thinly sliced, really tender and flavourful! The Pork Belly Bun? Well let’s just say you can’t stop at one (they are like mini size and you can easily eat half a dozen of them in one sitting!). I look forward to trying out more dishes in the future.

The second floor houses the bar and is set up with high tables and chairs. The owners of The Point inform me that they have events such as Ladies Night as well as guest vocal artistes performing and even a DJ or two as there’s a DJ console and the sound equipment in place. Perhaps a good place to have a private event of around 50 – 60 pax?

I believe that multi-concept establishments are the way forward for the F&B scene in Kuala Lumpur as they offer diners more than just dining or drinking. It’s good to see more and more entrepreneurs embracing this. The Point is somewhere to have a meal that’s reminiscent of something you may find in a fine dining restaurant but at way more reasonable prices. After dinner you can adjourn to the bar to continue your night over some drinks while being serenaded by the live performance (I hear Isabellakuan aka Bell Wong performs there every now and then). Or you can simply opt to do it vice versa whichever works best for you. Definitely a good addition to the F&B scene along Jalan Kasah!
