Carlsberg’s ‘Where’s The Party?’ 171211

[Special Event]

17 December 2011 – Was thrilled to hear that Carlsberg Malaysia was organising another ‘Where’s the Party?’ in 2011 after the epic fun time I had at the last one in June (click here to read about that one).

This one promised to be 12 hours of fun and that’s enough to get me to go so I rounded up the girls from Malaysia’s Hottest Bloggers and off we went to this exclusive ‘secret location’ party.

People were making all sorts of guesses – PD, Genting, Bukit Tinggi, Sepang, even a cruise to nowhere

Where indeed?

The meeting point at the Shah Alam Stadium was abuzz with excitement from the 2,000 guests and the atmosphere was electric with everyone trying to guess where it is. After registering we hopped on to the bus and after 10 minutes we arrived at the party location!

The location is revealed – Carlsberg Malaysia’s Brewery in Shah Alam, the facility where the first Carlsberg beer was locally brewed in 1972
Upon arrival we quickly made our way to the press conference where these lovely ladies awaited us with loads of ice-cold Carlsberg! Yay!
The lineup of artistes for the night was revealed by the Carlsberg team. That’s the sexy DJ Hiloco from Japan in white!

Soren Ravn, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia said “We are thrilled at the extensive reach of Carlsberg’s “Where’s the Party?” and the immense support and interest garnered from consumers. The main objectives of the party is to create memorable, inspiring moments and experiences for consumers as a way of encouraging them to be bold and stepping up to do the right things. When they think of celebrations and achievements, they will think of the next level with ‘That Calls for a Carlsberg!’”

Now on to the party!!!

The carpark of the brewery was transformed into a ‘amusement park’!

Wow! Does this bring back memories or what? When I was a little kid my dad used to bring me to fun fairs and the one I remember most was held where 1 Utama Shopping Centre currently is.

All the guests were assigned their own, unique RFID (Radio-Frequency Identity) tags, which enabled them to collate points from the games they played and redeem prizes accordingly. These RFID tags were linked to their Facebook accounts and enabled them to update their Facebook status simply by tagging on the “Like” stations throughout the brewery.
There were a whole bunch of fun fair booths including Ring a Green, Toss & Score, Duck Hunt, ‘Our holes, Your balls’ & Wild Wild West.
There were also various group challenge games such as ‘Road Runner’, ‘Peddle to the Bell’ (in the pic above) and ‘Dare to Dash?’ which aimed to engage guests and create a friendly atmosphere.
And of course no shortage of pretty hostesses!
This was fun! Went up for a ride with Louise.
I didn’t dare to try this one as by the time I reached it I was pretty full of Carlsberg.
MHB’s Johanna playing a really funny game which you have to bounce on the ball to the end while avoiding the obstacles
This was the most popular activity – Sky Ride which saw guests released over a hundred feet into the air tied to a helium balloon!
To create the circus atmosphere there were acts such as stilt walkers, unicyclists, jugglers and balloon sculptors.
And after playing all the games for a couple of hours it was time to relax and get a foot massage before heading to the food zone for dinner. I didn’t take any pics of the food as I was too busy eating the Malaysian ‘pasar malam’ food such as nasi lemak, burgers, satay, fishballs, nuggets, ice cream, etc. etc.
Then it was party time and the first act on stage were local performers Dennis Lau and Shawn Lee with combination of an electric violin and beat boxing. They were joined by MD Soren who surprised the crowd by rapping away in a collaborative performance with Sean and Dennis! Talk about a cool MD!
Korean star Lee An has all the girls screaming their lungs out!
Local band Crossfire totally rocked the crowd with hits like Cranberries’ Zombie as well as some of Beyond’s (yes the HK band) greatest hits!
While Paper Plane Pursuit slowed down the tempo a bit with some alternative rock numbers
girl band ‘High on Heels’ showcased their creative mix of live classical instruments with song mixing on their turntables and got the crowd raving with their rendition of Avicii’s Levels
The girls having a good time

In line with Carlsberg’s philosophy of responsible drinking, Carlsberg encouraged all partygoers to enjoy responsibly and in moderation. As part of the ‘Enjoy Responsibly’ campaign, Carlsberg planned engagement activities for consumers such as the Alcohol Testing Zone, where consumers had their alcohol level tested while partying and the Drunk Man Zone which enabled consumers to play an android game which showed them the effect of excessive alcohol consumption. These activities served as a reminder for all partygoers to be safe, in control, drink smart and stick to the age limit. Taxis were even waiting at the end of the night so guests who were above the alcohol limit could still get home safely.

Remember to always Party Responsibly!

A really fun day which really brought back fond childhood memories coupled with good entertainment and loads of ice-cold Carlsberg enjoyed with my friends and MHB!

Now that calls for a Carlsberg!
