[Review]
I first visited Rendez-Vouz back in December last year (which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2015/12/14/food-review-rendez-vous-french-restaurant-in-bangsar/) however they have recently acquired the services of a new chef – Chef Benjamin from France, and with him came a new menu. The new menu elevates the dishes to a higher level while maintaining the reasonable prices that the restaurant is famous for.
The ambience of Rendez-Vous Bangsar is more of an upscale French bistro, where you take the time to enjoy your food and drinks with good company. The French are known to really enjoy their mealtimes which can stretch several hours so if you have some time to spare, come over for some drinks, then have some food, slowly and course by course, inter-spaced by more drinks, then some dessert and more drinks!

A coffee aperitif based cocktail which I really liked as I’m a coffee lover.

Topped with a beautifully half-cooked egg which we broke and mixed into the creamy and cheesy bechamel sauce making an emulsion that went perfectly with the complimentary pieces of toasted baguette. This is the restaurant’s star dish and I fully recommend that you try it unless you happen to be allergic to cheese. The gnocchi and little sprinkles of vege, baby tomatoes and mushrooms added depth and difference in texture to this starter.
We paired this with Côtes Du Rhône wine from France. Wine by glass is priced at RM32.00 and Rendez-vous has a decent selection of both old world and new world wines to go along with your meal.

Prettiest dish of the night! This is a dish I’d expect in a fine-dining restaurant at exorbitant prices. Eat the pieces of tuna with the sauce and pickles after squeezing the lime over it.
This was paired with a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile.

This is a dish after my own heart! A succulent piece of pork belly that melts in your mouth.

A piece of sea bass in a bowl of frothy carrot puree and topped with caviar. This dish involved some cooking technique as Chef Benjamin added some stripes to the top of the fish making it very eye-catching indeed! A nice and hearty dish and we used the pieces of baguette to mop up the leftover sauce!

LOBSTER! Lovely chunks of lobster infused with its own juice and topped with some vege which I really didn’t care much about (I don’t like vege and who’s gonna eat vege when there’s lobster right?). The lobster juice made this dish sweet and tasty while the veges added some texture and colour to the dish. The surprisingly good accompaniment was the piece of toast which was topped with caviar! Caviar and lobster – a match made in heaven!
Both the fish and the lobster were paired with a Pinot Grigio.

When they say sinful, they really mean it! Fortunately it was not too sweet and the house made salted caramel ice cream was totally addictive! A very decadent and rich dessert indeed and is perfect for chocolate lovers.

This is definitely an Instagram worthy dessert! The lemon meringue tart comes with both hard and soft meringue, giving variance in texture. Tart and creamy, soft and crunchy, all in one dish! This one is definitely for you sweet tooths out there!
We paired both the desserts with bubbly prosecco.

We also had some digestifs to help digest the meal.

Look out for some special events such as stand up comedy or jazz band nights happening upstairs at Upstage Lounge which is also under Rendez-Vous.
