[Chinese New Year Special]
I’ve been very blessed to be able to attend a fair number of Chinese New Year menu reviews at various restaurants this year and I was pretty excited when the nice folks at Royal Flush invited us to try one of their Chinese New Year set dinner menus as I have pretty fond memories of the last time MHB went to try Royal Flush’s CNY menu back in 2013 (you can read more about that visit here – https://timchew.net/2013/02/04/food-review-royal-flush-chinese-restaurant/)
As this was an exclusive review for MHB and my last Chinese New Year review for the year, it was a more relaxed atmosphere for us and we got to let our hair down and just have fun. Anyway on to the review.
Royal flush is definitely the most outstanding restaurant at Oasis Square in Ara Damansara due to the fact that it is built to resemble a small Chinese palace with lots of traditional Chinese décor and architecture.

Royal Flush Prosperity Yee Sang with Salmon
Starting off the Chinese New Year dinner with the traditional lou sang.

Double Boiled Top Shell with Ginseng Root
The broth was sweet and flavourful and included among others, chicken, dried scallops and mushrooms. This was a very healthy start to the meal.

Steamed Kampung Chicken with Dried Scallops & Green Vegetables
I actually enjoyed this dish a lot as the flavourful sauce added lots of flavour to the tender steamed kampung chicken!

Steamed Giant Garoupa Hakka Style
Fresh and tender slices of garoupa with a light soya sauce and topped with parsley for some freshness!

Baked Ming Prawns with Japanese Sauce
This was an interesting combination but one that went pretty well. The salty and slightly sweet Japanese sauce added a nice dimension to this dish.

Braised Mushroom Fish Maw with Vegetables
Some vegetables to balance out the meal. I went mainly for the fish maw and mushrooms though which went very well with the next dish…

Chinese New Year Waxed Meat Rice
A dish that is commonly found during Chinese New Year. Not the most healthy of dishes due to the high sodium content from the waxed Chinese sausages (lap cheong) and waxed duck but this is one of my favourite CNY dishes! The portion of waxed meat was pretty generous although in the picture above it doesn’t look like it but trust me…there’s lots of it hidden under the rice.

Chilled Longan with Sea Coconut
A nice refreshing end to the meal.

Crispy Chinese New Year Pancake with Yam
Ahhhh my favourite nian gao dessert! This popular dessert has a layer of yam in between and was not too sweet!
The menu above is Set Menu A and is priced at RM1,188.00++ for a table of 10 pax.
There are also various other menus for you to choose from this Chinese New Year:
I’m glad to notice that Royal Flush is not serving any sharks fin as part of their Chinese New Year menu. It’s an ethical change that I hope other Chinese restaurants will make as well.
I’d highly advise you to book in advance if you’re looking to have your Chinese New Year meal there. There is ample parking in Oasis Square, Ara Damansara and if you go early (say before 7.00pm), the water fountain area outside Royal Flush is very nice for photos. Shoot with Royal Flush in the background for a nice Chinese New Year feel!
