[Food & Beverage – Christmas Special]

MHB’s Andy Kho, Kelly Siew, Sarah Low, Mynn Lee, and my partner in crime Conne headed over to Villa Danieli in the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur to try out their Christmas and New Year’s Eve menus. I’ve actually done a review at Villa Danieli before (you can read about that here – https://timchew.net/2013/10/10/romantic-dining-spots-villa-danieli-sheraton-imperial-kl/) and I regard it as one of the most romantic restaurants in the Klang Valley to bring your partner for a special occasion or a very good meal.

 

 

As there were five (5) separate special menus for the occasions definitely couldn’t finish all the full-sized servings thus to our relief we were served all 25 dishes in sample sizes which amounted to quite a bit (most of the girls could only manage up to 15 to 16 of the dishes hahaha!) but I’m proud to say that I pretty much managed to finish everything (*looks down at tummy and realises why it’s so big).

To get us started, here’s a look at the sampling plates that we got to try during our review. Now it doesn’t look like much but even for a big eater like myself I was pretty stuffed when the desserts arrived.

For a romantic and memorable Christmas eve, you can have your dinner at the free-standing Tuscany styled Italian restaurant, Villa Danieli. There is a specially prepared 5-course Christmas Eve menu which includes:

Duck Foie Gras Lollipop with Crunchy Pistachios and Pineapple Sauce

Gorgonzola Cheese and Pistachios Parfait with Apple, Celeriac and Raspberry Salad served with Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette and Warm Ricotta Cheese Croquette

Potato and Fontina Cheese Ravioli with Sautéed Spinach, Parmesan Cream, Fresh Thyme

Lemon Steamed Halibut Fillet and Panzanella in Saffron Butter Sauce OR

Beef Tenderloin with Buche de Chèvre Gratin, Pears Compote and Celeriac Mille-feuille

White Chocolate Parfait and White Chocolate Mousse with Pistachios and Raspberry, Orange Gelatin Sheet.

The exclusive 5-course dinner is only available on 24 December 2013 and is priced at RM220.00++ per person. You can also opt to pair some fine wines with your dinner for an additional of RM120.00++ per person.

Christmas Eve at Essence

Essence will feature a vast selection of dishes such as Roast Spring Chicken with Galantine, Mango Salsa and Apricot Vinaigrette, Roast Turkey with Apple and Chestnut Stuffing, Lobster, Avocado Salsa and Kumato with Spicy Chilli Honey, Pan Seared Cod with Coconut Chili and Citrus-Cinnamon Reduction.

There are also some specially prepared Christmas desserts like the Raspberry Yule Log coated with White Chocolate, Ivory Cherry Gateaux, Apricot White Chocolate Mille-feuille, Matcha Panna Cotta, and Vanilla Lemon Cream Éclair.

Christmas Eve buffet dinner is served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm at Essence and is priced at RM118.00++ per person (food only) OR RM158.00++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines or 3 bottles of beer).

Honey Citrus-cured Salmon with Tartare, Mediterranean Octopus Salad with Tomato Gelatin, Olives Dust and Chickpea Mousse,

Creamed Cod Squid Ink Ravioli with Thyme, Tomato Fillet and Prawns in Tomato Coulisse Sauce,

Pan Seared Snow Fish with Leeks Puree and White Asparagus, Sprouts and Ash Sauce OR

Beef Tenderloin Stuffed with Foie Gras, Sautéed Mixed Mushrooms, Honey Glazed Jus

Raspberry Panna Cotta with Crispy Almonds and Foamy Lemon Mousse.

The exclusive 5-course dinner is only available on 31 December 2013 and is priced at RM220.00++ per person. You can also opt to pair some fine wines with your dinner for an additional of RM120.00++ per person.

New Year’s Eve Buffet Dinner at Essence

The buffet spread at Essence on New Year’s Eve will feature Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Malaysian and international favorites. Notable dishes are the Pan Seared Salmon with Shallots Confit, Smoked Eel with Couscous Salad and Pineapple Cumin Chutney, Roast Turkey with Chestnut and Mushroom Stuffing, Oven Roasted Lamb with Prune Sauce, Oven Baked Slipper Lobster with Tomata Mornay Sauce.

The dessert counter will satisfy your sweet cravings with the White Chocolate Pistachio Cherry Gateaux Praline Panna Cotta with Apricot Compote, Tiramisu, Red Bean Mousse with Green Tea Gelee and Sesame Tuile, on top of the normal desserts/

This special New Year’s Eve dinner buffet will be served from 6.30pm to 10.30pm and is priced at RM118.00++ per person (food only) and RM158.00++ per person (inclusive of free flow of house wines or 3 bottles of beer).

Christmas Day and New Year’s Day Brunch at Pavilions Lounge and Essence

If you can wake up early on new year’s day, you can head over to the Pavilions Lounge for limitless cocktails, mocktails and hors d’oeuvre. There will also be canapés including Roast Beef with Tomato Chutney on Brioche and Cajun Chicken with Prune Salad on Whole Wheat Bread. If you like eggs, there are a variety of egg dishes such as Poached Eggs with Apple Sabayon, Mumbles Egg with Tomato and Chilli Compote and Pan Fried Foie Gras with Sweet Balsamic Vinaigrette and Poached Quail Eggs. There is also an oyster station where your host will unlock fresh oysters before you, to go with your choice of shallot vinegar, Tabasco sauce, lemon wedges and watercress sandwiches.

Essence will be having a full on buffet with more than 100 mouth-watering local specialties as well as international dishes! Notable dishes include lobster, Avocado Salsa and Kumato with Spicy Chilli Honey, Roast Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing, Prime Rib of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Horseradish sauce with Roast Potatoes and Light Mustard Jus, Fish Head Curry, Tandoori Chicken, Stir Fried Fish Fillet with Black Bean Sauce. There is also the noodle corner, and the sushi bar.

For those of you who have a sweet tooth, there are lots of desserts including Pistachio Raspberry Yule Log coated with White Chocolate, Grandma’s Minced Pie, Christmas Pudding with Vanilla Sauce and more.

The Christmas/ New Year’s Day brunch is priced at RM188.00++ per person (food only) and RM368.00++ per person (inclusive of bottomless sparkling wine, draughts beers, white wine and red wine, and is available at Pavilions Lounge from 11.00am to 12.00pm and Essence from 12.00pm to 3.00pm on 25 December 2013 and 1 January 2014.

tomcat says – I REALLY REALLY love the food and ambience at Villa Danieli. This is not to say that Essence is not good (Essence would be most suitable for you if you’re a big eater!) but if you really want a memorable night out I’d highly recommend Villa Danieli.
