We were most honoured to be invited to the preview of the Chivas ‘I Rise, We Rise’ event on 27 October 2022 which was the prelude to the actual event at Sentul Depot on 28 and 29 October 2022. The event stood as a celebration to the new generation of hustlers and scotch whisky drinkers who carve out distinct niches and work to improve both their own lot in life and the lives of others around them. During the course of two days, more than 3,000 people attended the Chivas “I Rise, We Rise” event.
The term “RISE” was constructed to provide four carefully designed spaces that exhibited a fusion of Chivas-related fashion, art, music, and drinks. Moreover, Chivas partnered with four individuals from various industries to form the Hero Risers in order to highlight their talents and express their enthusiasm for what they do.
Pamela Tan, an architectural designer, contributed her interpretation of “I Rise, We Rise” as part of the art collaboration through a specific installation made just for the occasion. Tan and her team created a colourful tunnel that fits inside the letter “I,” inspired by the sunrise and the gold liquid of Chivas. We were invited to travel towards a tangible “light at the end of the tunnel,” symbolising the path towards success that we all enjoy and share in together, the inspiring message of “I Rise, We Rise” comes to life.
We were also asked to express ourselves and leave our imprint on graffiti walls that featured a colourful mural by artists Wong Ming Hao, Wong Chee Hwa, and Jason Teo. The semi-realistic painting and the more cartoonish sketch were designed by the three artists to express the notion of pushing boundaries and opening up limitless possibilities—a concept that Chivas continues to inspire all around the world.
Chivas also teamed with NERDUNIT, the renowned streetwear company founded by Hero Riser Ronald Chew, to introduce a pair of limited-edition jerseys priced at RM409 which were designed by NERDUNIT that mix the luxury of Chivas with the cool, contemporary designs of the label – all in time for the upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament.
Hero Riser Jon Lee of Penrose KL joined his colleagues Shawn Chong (Bar Mizukami), Karl Too (Happy Stan), Julian Brigget (Bar Trigona), Affie Adut (Now & Now), and Mel John Chavez (Smoke & Mirrors, Singapore) on the bartending stage. There was a varied mix of bartenders each night, and they each concocted a unique cocktail utilising Chivas 12. Lee’s Saffron Blossom cocktail combined Asian flavours to highlight the Chivas 12’s sweeter honey notes.
An electrifying back-to-back DJ lineup at the main stage, featuring DJ Reeve and the DJs Playground collective, played to the intense intensity of the crowd each night. Together with the Playground sessions, the line-up featured foreign acts like DJ Pei Pei (Taiwan), SCNDL (Australia), and Roxy June (Thailand), as well as local favourites DJ Pennie, Ramsey Westwood, and BATE. MC Vibe hosted the event.
The new Chivas 12 bottle, with a striking, modern exterior to compliment a timeless spirit and represent a new generation of Scotch Whisky consumers, was also introduced during the Chivas “I Rise, We Rise” event. The distinctive rounded shoulders of the iconic Chivas 12 bottle have been preserved, but it has been redesigned and lengthened to stand taller and prouder. This updated crest highlights Chivas’s “luckenbooth,” a representation of the company’s core principles of ambition, generosity, and unapologetic success.

During the event, Chivas also teased the limited-edition Chivas 18 bottle that was created in partnership with LISA, its new Asia Brand Ambassador. To celebrate the occasion, guests could enter a lucky draw for a chance to win VVIP access to a virtual event featuring LISA herself on 27 November 2023. These lucky individuals will have exclusive access to the event, where they will be able to interact with the international music icon Fans of LISA and Chivas will still be able to tune in to a livestream of the event on the Chivas Instagram page and YouTube channel on 27 November 2023 at 9:30 PM local time.
LISA’s limited edition bottle wonderfully complements Chivas 18’s luxuriously rich and complex taste, which expertly blends malt and grain whiskies from distilleries across Scotland. Chivas has created a specially crafted cocktail mix called “Pink Spice” in cooperation with the musician LISA to honour their continuous partnership. The recipe combines Chivas 18’s delicately layered blend with notes of tea, citrus, and spice inspired by the LISA’s Asian ancestry.

The limited-edition bottle is the next move in Chivas’ partnership with LISA, who earlier this year was announced as the first female face of the brand in Asia.
