Headed to Four Seasons Place in downtown Kuala Lumpur recently for “A Caviar Dining Experience” which was a collaboration by Poseidon Reserve, Malaysia Boleh! Local hawker food court, and Atlas Gourmet Market and Atlas Bistro.
The experience was inspired by a recent YouTube video by The Food Ranger where he featured a custom made 500 USD char kuey teow at Tiger Char Kuay Teow (skip to 15:00 if you only want to see that bit) which is located at 179, Lebuh Carnarvon, George Town, 10450 George Town, Pulau Pinang.
Poseidon Reserve at Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur is a collaboration between Charles Devan and Patrick Devendran of Ironwoods who hail from Sabah, and are importers of high-quality seafood, together with their childhood friend, Andy Hiew.
Poseidon Caviar & Seafood Bar was established in Atlas Gourmet, Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur to provide luxe seafood dishes in Malaysia, such as fresh oysters and caviar.
First up, we headed over to the Malaysia Boleh! Local hawker food court to try the char kuey teow topped with a (small) dollop of caviar (unlike the copious amounts of caviar in The Food Ranger’s video).
As such, sadly the gorgeous umami flavours of the caviar were totally overwhelmed and covered by the taste of the char kuey teow, and there wasn’t much discernable variance in taste or texture.
Perhaps the caviar pizza at Atlas Bistro would fare better…
The freshly made and piping hot seafood pizza at Atlas Bistro looked really appetising, and tasted even better! The umami flavours of the dollops of caviar were complemented by the smoked salmon and seafood atop the crispy thin crust pizza. This was definitely a winning dish!
