Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur
We recently headed over to Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara for their Christmas tree lighting ceremony and dinner. This presented me with a very good opportunity to test out the newly launched OPPO Reno2 smartphone’s 4-camera setup (read more about the smartphone here – https://timchew.net/2019/10/20/oppo-launches-the-new-oppo-reno2-series-in-malaysia/)
First up was to test the Ultra Steady Video Mode technology which increases the stability of videos. Oppo claims that this will eliminate the need for gimbals (which costs a few hundred up to a thousand and beyond Ringgit).
Quite impressive! I don’t have steady hands especially after drinking coffee and I just finished a long black just before shooting this video.
Let’s see how the camera performs shooting food!

Unmistakably French Art Exhibition
Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara collaborated with a Malaysia-based French Pop Art Gallery, Gallery des artistes to highlight the glamour of French fashion. Titled “Unmistakably French”, those art pieces and sculptures will be showcased through the lobby of the hotel between 25 November 2019 and 29 February 2020.
With more than 15 works all from France, the works on display are from a variety of mediums from paintings to sculptures to glass art with jewellery, the “Unmistakably French” exhibition represents the latest trends in contemporary art. The art pieces and sculptures specially curated by the Gallery’s Founder, Edith HO for the hotel, represents quintessential French elegance in fashion and at the same time pays tribute to French refinements and style. It also focuses on certain fashion icons, designers, and models such as Coco Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld and Kate Moss.
Christmas Dinner at Grand Millennium Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Yvonne and I headed over to the Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur on 27 November 2019 for their Christmas tree lighting cocktail and dinner. With me again was the Oppo Reno2 smartphone and this time the scene was more challenging than the event above (at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara) as the lighting was rather dim/ uneven. Time to see how the phone performs in low light/ patchy lighting conditions!
First up was the cocktail and Christmas tree lighting ceremony before we headed into the ballroom for a delicious festive feast!
The girls had a good time taking selfies with the OPPO Reno2’s shark’s fin pop up selfie camera which performed pretty well despite the poor lighting! Additionally, there are many beauty features that can be controlled right from the camera app itself (ie. you don’t need to use a third party app) hence girls really like this phone!
