Southern Rock Seafood will be having their Dutch Mussel Festival on Sunday, 25 August 2019 from 12.00noon to 10.00pm. The event will feature “musselicious” family fun, loads of fresh and cooked seafood dishes, live music, comedy, competitions, drinks and dancing!

Early Bird Tickets priced only at RM35 per pax and are availble for purchase online at https://shop.southernrockseafood.com.my/products/Dutch-Mussels-Festival/120 before 22 August 2019, after which the tickets will be at the normal price of RM55.00 per pax.

The tickets are inclusive of food and drink vouchers which are redeemable for:

Pot of Dutch Mussels or 3 Irish Oysters or Cod and Chips, bottle of Heineken or white wine

We headed over for a little preview of the dishes you can expect at the festival!
Expect loads and loads of mussels cooked in different ways!

We tried mussels cooked three (3) ways namely:

  • Legendary Laksa
  • White Wine
  • Tomato & Basil

The portion above is 1/2 kg however the full 1kg pot to share will be available during the festival at a special price!

My favourite would have to be the Legendary Laksa (so Malaysian of me!) which was so flavourful! Tip – eat the mussels first then use the toast to soak up any leftover sauce!

The Legendary Laksa truly lives up to its name!
There will be loads of oysters including the much vaunted Gallagher Specials
The Gallagher Specials (the big one in the middle) is my favourite oyster – big, meaty, juicy and immensely flavourful! That being said, do try the other types of oysters as well as each have their own unique flavours!
Lemon Sole from New Zealand – whole fish to share. This was splendidly cooked leaving the flesh juicy (I’m not a big fan of fish but I’d have to say that this was delicious!)
Rainbow Trout from England
Mediterranean Seabass

We also tried some of Southern Rock Seafood’s signature dishes (which won’t be available during the festival):

Oyster Shooters – A shot of umami goodness with a fresh oyster paired with a shot of Bloody Mary. Immensely appetising and full of umami goodness!
Sampling Platter of some of Southern Rock Seafood’s favourite dishes like clams, prawns, and smoked salmon.

BTW there’s also a chiller where you can purchase fresh fish, caviar, pates, smoked salmon, goats cheese, and various seafood in the restaurant (in case you’re there after their retail shop next door has closed).
