Ti Chen Chinese Restaurant at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur (which technically is located at the edge of Shah Alam bordering Petaling Jaya and just 3 minutes drive from Subang SkyPark) welcomes the new lunar year with an extravagant spread of specialty gourmet dishes available in three themed set menu creations – Spring and Happiness, Everlasting Prosperity, Wealth and Fortune – signifying representations of the astrological tradition.

This year’s Lunar New Year menu will be made available exclusively for guests from 8 January till 19 February 2019 from 12 pm – 3 pm (lunch) and 6 pm – 10 pm (dinner).

 

“We have incorporated a special menu this year for our guests to indulge and cherish moments of feasting in prosperity with the traditional set menu style meal packages that have been created targeting corporate clients, families and friends to toss and celebrate the mark of the season where treasure, good health, peace and happiness comes forth,” says Chef Lim Chee Woi, Chinese Executive Chef.  “Once again we are delighted to celebrate the new year of prosperity with all our valued guests at Saujana to celebrate and welcome the prosperous New Year”. The set meal packages for five to ten people cover a full range of time-honoured favourites including roasted chicken, stir-fried sea prawns with butter and spiced pepper salt, steamed glutinous rice, house specialty smoked duck, double boiled fish soup, braised abalone with sun-dried mushrooms, salted egg ice cream, crispy deep-fried Chinese brown sugar balls, and much more.

The meal packages also come with three different varieties of Yee Sang, a customary dish flavoured with blackcurrant plum dressing and crispy shredded treasures, which is tossed to symbolise good luck, health, prosperity and all things favourable.

The price for set meal packages ranges from RM1,888 and for the Spring and Happiness Set, RM2,288 for the Everlasting Prosperity Set and RM 3,088 for the Wealth and Fortune Set inclusive service charge and government taxes. Also available during the festive season is Ti Chen’s Chinese New Year A ’la Carte mix-and match menu.

As an extension to the Chinese New Year festivities, the Saujana Hotel will host a lion dance performance in the lobby area on 12 February at 10:30 am. The performance will feature exciting acrobatic stunts followed by an animated lion dance with thundering drums and cymbals to evict evil spirits and summon good luck for the New Year.

I was very impressed by the offerings at Ti Chen this time round especially with their Honey Baked Cod Fish Fillets with fresh shimeji and wok-fried asparagus which was nicely caramelised on the outside reminiscent to teriyaki style fish. The House Specialty Smoked Duck was accompanied by a really appetising green chilli sauce, which was zesty and had a nice bite to balance out the earthy flavours of the duck. The beautifully presented yee sang, and unconventional dessert which was the Salted Egg Ice Cream and Crispy Deep Fried Chinese Brown Sugar Balls are also worth a mention!

From now until 19 February 2019, Dorsett Grand Subang swings into the Lunar New Year celebration with a range of auspicious oriental feasts at the hotel’s Chinese Restaurant – The Emperor, which is offering a variety of menus which includes chef’s specialities set and a la carte options for a memorable Chinese New Year celebration with family, friends and colleagues.

 

THE DORSETT PROSPERITY YEE SANG AND 6-COURSE POON CHOI

As part of the Lunar New Year tradition, a prosperity toss or fondly called “Lo Hei’’ is a must-have item which represents good health, prosperity and success. This year’s signature yee sang or “Lo Hei’’ Thai-Style “Hee Har” Pink Prawn and Fresh Fruits is available at RM108 (Half Set) and RM128 (Full Set).

Poon Choi is a traditional and communal dish that fit into all reunion especially during the Lunar New Year. Each Poon Choi consists of Braised Abalone, Sea Cucumber, Dried Scallop, Dried Oyster, Black Moss, Fish Maw, Black Mushroom, Yam, Roasted Crispy Chicken and Duck, White Radish, Braised Bean Curd Stick, Chinese Cabbage, Fatt Choy Fish Ball, Broccoli, Fresh White-Water Prawn and our signature Emperor broth.

This year, Dorsett Grand Subang offers two (2) selections of 6-course Poon Choi set menu available from RM988 nett for four (4) to six (6) pax and RM 1,388 nett for seven (7) to ten (10) pax. AUSPICIOUS REUNION SET LUNCH AND DINNER – SET MENUS

A time for reunion and in the spirit of togetherness, savour the company of family and friends with auspicious feasts. Apart from the 6-course Poon Choi, our Lunar New Year feasts journey continue with another three (3) set menus representing Standard, Deluxe and Premium. Set menu starts from RM 1,288 nett per table of 10 persons. During Lunar New Year, one of the most important rituals is the giving and receiving of “lai see” or known as a red packet. For that reason, guests will be entitled to an exclusive lucky draw for orders of the Set Menu (terms and conditions apply).

Standard set menu priced at RM 1,288 nett per table of 10 persons brings amazing menu options such as Prosperity Yee Sang with Salmon and Shredded Young Mango, “Teo Chew Style” Steamed Silver Pompano Fish with Preserved Vegetables and Braised Black Mushroom with Dried Oyster Sea Moss among others.

Deluxe set menu is priced at RM 1,588 nett per table of 10 persons, highlighting two (2) traditional Lunar New Year dishes enjoyed by families – Crispy Roasted Duck with Chinese Herb and Wok-Fried Tiger Prawns with Three Varied Taste Sauce, suggesting good news and cheer in the coming new year.

The Auspicious Reunion feast set menu ends with Premium set at RM 1,888 per table of 10 persons with a selection of premium ingredients. A LA CARTE HIGHLIGHT

Relish in scrumptious a la carte dishes with mouth-watering delicacies of luscious Claypot Braised Dried Seafood and Sea Moss, wholesome Stewed Dried Oyster with Black Mushroom, Black Moss and Lettuce, or maybe a healthy twist of Stir-Fried Assorted Vegetables with Fresh Scallops and Macadamia Nuts to create a memorable experience for a lunar celebration.

Celebrations will continue with a traditional lion dance on the eleventh day of the Lunar New Year, 15 February 2019 at 11.00am at the lobby of Dorsett Grand Subang. The lion dance, accompanied by the music of beating drums, clashing cymbals, and resounding gongs while demonstrating martial arts agility, is a traditional Chinese dance performed on big occasions for good luck as it is believed to ward off negative elements and bring fortune and prosperity in the year ahead.

Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel & Residences will be having its Chinese New Year ‘A Nostalgic Celebration’ dining promotion at Red Chinese Cuisine, from 4 January to 19 February 2019.

This year is all about timeless cultural traditions that have been forgotten, and the hotel brings back traditional Chinese culture that is all about spending time with family and friends or enjoying a simple reunion dinner together. Red will be offering uniquely crafted Yee Sang, suitable for gym junkies and indulgent Chinese delicacies. Guests will be greeted by lanterns and pink cherry blossoms that symbolise good luck, while a pop-up, retro grocery store or ‘Kedai Runcit’ in the Malaysian language, depicting the good ol’ days adorns the hotel’s main lobby.

The auspicious festive menus begin with Yee Sang (which is available for dine-in or takeaway), a must-have Chinese New Year prosperity salad, highlighting Red’s very own homemade sauces. The Fresh Fruits and Garden Greens Yee Sang tastes great and is for all diners, with a variety toppings, including Fresh Salmon, Fresh Tuna, Scallop Lips, Jellyfish, Sea Urchin, Tempura Prawn, Crispy Whitebait, Black Truffle, Abalone, Crispy Soft Shell Crab and Crispy Fish Skin.

You can choose from three celebratory menus which are priced from RM1,388 to RM1,888. Each set menu serves ten persons and prices are inclusive of 6% government service tax.
