Buffet Dinner at Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur and Carlsberg Smooth Draught Pint Bottle Launch

Buffet Dinner at Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

I rarely do reviews on buffet any more (I do the odd one for Ramadan buffets) as I’m more into quality food rather than quantity of dishes however when Lemon Garden at Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur invited I delightfully accepted as the restaurant is pretty well-known for its fresh seafood selection at its buffet, and of course their seafood lunch buffet on Saturday.

Besides fresh seafood, the restaurant is also known for its extensive buffet selections and live kitchens where local and international specialities are prepared a la minute. The buffet spread features local and international specialities from Malay, Chinese, Italian, Indian, Thai, Japanese and Western cuisine.

Freshly shucked and constantly refilled before they run out!

The Japanese sashimi/ sushi spread was also very popular among diners as the offerings were very fresh!

My partner in crime was thrilled to find a selection of healthy double boiled soups (not in the photo) in the local/ Asian food section and she tried all 3 varieties. I was more interested in the noodles and got the chef to make me a bowl of Penang style curry noodles!

While no bowl of curry noodles can truly compare to the authentic ones in Penang, we really enjoyed this one with its fragrant and flavourful broth.

The pasta station gives you the option of selecting the type of pasta, sauce and ingredients you want

Which the chef will then cook for you

And finally – the dessert section!

The durian cake was my favourite in the dessert section (probably due to my fondness for the fruit).

Instead of a chocolate fountain there were chocolate taps which in my view are way more efficient, easier to use, and less messy!

There were some local desserts as well

A very impressive array of desserts which will definitely please even the most fussy sweettooth!

Or if you’re the healthy weight-watcher kind, you can opt for some fresh fruits

On Saturdays, seafood lovers are in for a treat. The Seafood Lunch Buffet features an array of fresh seafood and comes with free flow of soft drinks and chilled juices at RM 198nett per person.

The fresh seafood selection on a normal night is already pretty impressive! The food selection overall caters to both an Eastern and Western palate however I was actually more drawn to the local/ Asian food (which is unusual because I normally prefer Western food) as the dishes were pretty delicious – even seemingly ordinary dishes like roast duck and chicken and the various curries! Not to say that the Western selection wasn’t delicious though just that the local/ Asian dishes were somewhat more outstanding!

There’s also a gluten-free dishes section for those who have that dietary requirement, and you can also consult the chefs there as there are also various other gluten-free dishes (not in the gluten-free section) in the other sections. I found the staff to be most polite, friendly and helpful during my visit (and most did not know I was there for a review). The seating area is huge and I liked the fact that the food was constantly replenished meaning that you don’t have to wait for your favourite items to be refilled.

The dinner buffet at Lemon Garden at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur is from 6.30pm to 10.30pm daily. Lunch buffet is from 12noon to 2.30pm on weekdays and 12noon to 3pm on weekends.

Carlsberg Smooth Draught Pint Bottle Launch

The welcome party!

After the buffet at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, I rushed over to Eight Gourmets Gala, in Pinacle Sunway, and managed to catch the tail end of Carlsberg Malaysia’s Carlsberg Smooth Draught single-serve pint bottle launch. The new pint bottle is available at modern eateries, neighbourhood bars and golf clubs nationwide – making this product innovation Probably The Smoothest Draught Beer Revolution ever!

The new and sleek single-serve Carlsberg Smooth Draught comes in 325ml pint bottle size to complete the brew’s existing portfolios of 580ml quart bottle, 320ml can and 500ml can. Carlsberg Smooth Draught is brewed longer for a signature smoothness to give the draught sensation on the palate, and with the launch of the new bottle, it’s like you can have draught beer anywhere!

Carlsberg Malaysia’s Managing Director Lars Lehmann says: “Gone are the days where consumers can only enjoy a draught beer in a bar or pub equipped with sophisticated draught beer machine and tapping device. With our product innovation – Carlsberg Smooth Draught, we raised the bar to a whole new level by launching a sleek beautiful 325ml single-serve pint bottle for consumers to enjoy Probably The Smoothest Beer In The World anywhere, anytime. Since its inaugural launch in Malaysia in April last year, the beautiful golden-hued brew has successfully captured the hearts of many beer consumers, who prefer smoother beer and met the expectations of many discerning draught beer drinkers. Its recipe of success lies not only in its quality natural ingredients, but also in its two unique brewing techniques. It goes through a longer maturation cycle to achieve its signature smooth and enhances the brew’s distinctive aromatic flavour. At Carlsberg, we have brought the true enjoyment of draught beer to a whole new level. No beer machine needed, no tapping device required. Simply enjoy Probably The Smoothest Beer In The World anytime, anywhere – be it in a plane, out in the desert or Probably – at the peak of a mountain,”

In conjunction with the launch of Carlsberg Smooth Draught in 325ml pint bottle, Carlsberg has activated their Carlsberg Smooth Draught roving team which will visit 800 selected outlets nationwide in October 2017. Consumers who purchase 1 bucket of Carlsberg Smooth Draught in 325ml bottles, will get a complimentary retractable USB cable. In November 2017, consumers who purchase 4 big bottles of 580ml or 2 buckets of Carlsberg Smooth Draught in 325ml pint bottles, will get a free multipurpose lighter.
