My partner in crime and I recently headed over to Lemon Garden in Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur for their Seafood “Eat-All-You-Can” A La Carte Buffet. Before the MCO, the seafood buffet at Lemon Garden was one of the (if not THE) most popular buffets in town, renowned for it’s selection of fresh seafood, with a multitude of other dishes. I did a review of it some time back which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2017/10/10/buffet-dinner-at-lemon-garden-shangri-la-kuala-lumpur-and-carlsberg-smooth-draught-pint-bottle-launch/

As the authorities have set new guidelines and SOP for the RMCO in an attempt to break the Covid-19 chain, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur has adapted their popular seafood buffet to an all-you-can-eat concept featuring an extensive spread featuring over 60 different a la carte dishes which will be prepared a la minute by our talented Chefs manning the live cooking stations. Your orders will be prepared and served warmly to your table within minutes.

The main highlight of this menu is undoubtedly the fresh selections of seafood, sushi and sashimi, which is what the Lemon Garden buffet is renowned for. Select from Freshly Shucked US Oysters, Chilled Slipper Lobster,  Mud Crabs, Shrimp Cocktail, Norwegian Salmon Sashimi, Ahi Tuna  Sashimi,  Octopus Sashimi, Salmon Aburi Nigiri, California Roll and Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. It was so good and fresh that we had two servings of the seafood items and would have ordered more, however, we wanted to try the other dishes too.

The  Salad & Cold  Cut station offers appetizer choices ranging from  Classic  Caesar  Salad, Mango  Kerabu,  Thai  Papaya  Salad,  Cucumber  Salad  with  Grill  Beef  Steaks,  Cold  Cut  Meat  Platter and Smoked Fish Platter. There’s also Tempura served with a choice of Mixed Vegetable, Prawn, Whiting Fish, Tempura Sauce and White Radish.

From the Noodle Stall, options range from classic dishes such as Nyonya Laksa, Wanton Noodle Soup and Ipoh Hor Fun. Malay and Indian dishes make up the Local Delicacies station  offering  choices  of  Malaysian  Satay,  Chicken  Tikka,  Punjabi Samosa,  Daging  Masak  Rendang, Ayam  Kapitan  Berkentang,  Nasi  Biryani  Kambing,  Mihari  Gosht, Kari Kepala Ikan, Kadhai Gobhi Aloo, Sayur Lodeh and Paneer Butter Masala.

The Pizza Oven offers all-time favourite pizzas such as Margherita, Spicy Beef, Smoked Duck and Mushroom and Spinach, while the Pasta station is where you can customise your own pasta (choose from various pastas) which will then be cooked with Chicken Bolognaise, Mushroom and Smoked Beef Brisket, Arrabiata or Smoked Salmon and Zucchini.

From the Grill, there are heavy mains such as the Australian Beef Flank Steak, Australian Lamb Chop, Baked Norwegian Salmon, Seabass Fillet, Confit Duck Leg, and the Roast of The Day. The Wok & Steam station offers Doubled-Boiled Soup choices of Snow Pear and Chicken, Chicken Herbal and Winter Melon. Other options include Steamed Grouper, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fried Rice “Yong Chow Style”, Penang Char Kway Teow, Salted Egg Yolk Prawn and Wok Fried Seasonal Vegetable.

If you can somehow fit more, there are also side dishes such as Grilled  Broccoli, Cumin Orange Roasted Carrots, Roasted Potatoes, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Steamed  White Rice, Cashew Basmati and Buttered Naan.

Dessert choices includes Ice Kacang, Coconut Sticky Rice, Malay Kuih, Banana Fritter, Crème Brulee, Chocolate Lava Cake, Bubur Cha Cha and Seasonal Fruits.

Enjoyed the greenery and serenity of the koi pond outside Lemon Garden. The koi are really smart and will come to you if you go near the edge of the pond.
You can walk around to view the different stations. However, kindly remember to maintain social distancing and avoid getting too close to the food.
The poor chefs at the seafood station were busy all night!

As much as I love pizza, we skipped these to try more dishes
Sadly had to skip the carb heavy pastas too

Here’s a look at what we tried:

I could have ordered these the whole night but I had to remind myself that we had save some space for the other dishes
Sashimi!
Satay and items from the Indian station
The satay was actually pretty delicious
Cold cuts
Prawn Noodles
From the grill

We ordered all the desserts!

Chocolate lava cake

Here are my top five (5) dishes in no particular order:

Fresh seafood! We basically ordered all!
Salmon and tuna sashimi

A must order, the healthy and nutritious double boiled soups!
