[MIGF Special Feature]
Janet and I headed over to 2OX one fine evening for a preview of their upcoming MIGF menu. 2OX is pronounced as “two ox” in reference to two (2) oxen which are also referred to as bullocks in certain countries (hence the name bullock carts). The establishment has a bistro concept and is takes up two (2) lots along the newly redeveloped The Row KL (formerly Asian Heritage Row) along Jalan Doraisamy (next to Sheraton Imperial KL Hotel) in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
The outside of the bistro is an al fresco dining area for those who like “fresh air”.

We started off the meal with the Foccacia Bread with A Trio of Spreads (Hummus, Eggplant, Caviar, Black Olive Tapenade) which is priced at RM25.00 (no visual for this item).
Congac Foie Gras Terrine Onion Chutney and Brioche Toast ** – RM40.00
Now I really love foie gras therefore I really enjoyed this terrine which was paired with onion chutney to balance the flavour. Spread both on the slices of brioche toast and you have a delightful little starter that’s rich and luxurious yet well-balanced and doesn’t get too cloying!
Beef Tongue Salad with Foie Gras and Leeks Vinaigrette* – RM40.00
OK to be entirely honest – I’ve never eaten beef tongue before. However, as I love beef, I was looking forward to trying this dish. This one was paired with foie gras (again! yes!) as well as a leeks vinaigrette. The beef tongue had an interesting texture, somewhat like eating the intestines – slightly chewy but not rubbery. The foie gras added some richness and earthy flavours to the dish while the leeks vinaigrette balanced it out. Another winning dish!
Roasted Beet Salad, Fourme D’ambert Cheese, Green Apple, Candied Walnuts* – RM30.00
I am not a fan of beetroot however this one went nicely with the cheese, apple and candied walnuts. Actually I really liked the candied walnuts which were sweet and crunchy! This dish had a nice mix of flavours and textures!
Broiled Salmon in A Crushed Almond Crust with Creamy Leek Fondue** – RM75.00
The combination of textures here was very pleasing on the palate – from the creamy and soft leek fondue, to the fresh and flaky salmon, with the almond crust contrasting against both! Taste wise, it was delicious! The green flavours of the leeks matched the perfectly cooked salmon, while the almond crust provided a nutty element.
Butternut Squash Barley Pearl Risotto with Spicy Charcoal Grilled Squid* – RM50.00
This was a very heart-warming dish indeed! There’s just something about a well-cooked risotto which just makes everything better! This risotto though had some less than common flavours in the form of butternut squash and barley, however it was creamy and went beautifully with the smoky and spicy squid!
Dark Chocolate Lava Cake with Raspberry Sherbet – RM20.00
A nice and sweet end to a delicious meal! This dish is definitely the way to any girl’s heart so guys, you know what to do!
You can also create your own three (3) course menu for a special set price that is cheaper compared to ordering each individual dish a la carte.
