[Review]
My partner in crime and I headed over to Hoopla Wine Bar one busy evening to check out this latest addition to the night entertainment outlet scene in bustling Desa Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur. Hoopla shares some of the same owners as Chapter One sports bar downstairs and thus you can also order Chapter One’s food at Hoopla. However the concept of both establishments are vastly different with Chapter One being more of a sports bar with a live band while Hoopla is a wine bar with low tables and sofas along with an extensive wine list which has over 100 wines.
It’s an ideal place to have a bottle (or a few bottles!) of wine with some friends or even bring your loved one/ partner for a night out with decent food and a nice ambience.

Cracklin’ Chicken Karaage – RM38.00
First up were some dishes from the special Connor’s Stout Porter menu that was currently running at Chapter One. This dish is infused with Connor’s Stout Porter and was also the perfect accompaniment for the ice-cold pint of the aforementioned stout that comes with it in the set.
Connor’s Rib Slab – RM85.00
Oh yeah! Now this is one of my fav dishes! A whole rack of ribs with a Connor’s Stout Porter BBQ glaze. Fall off the bone tender and very flavourful. Squeeze the lime on top for a hint of piquancy. This dish comes with two (2) pints of Connor’s Stout Porter in the set.
Connor’s BBQ Chicken Thigh – RM40.00
Chicken thigh with Connor’s infused glaze and a spicy chili sauce on the side. This dish also comes with a pint of Connor’s Stout Porter.
Crispy Pork Knuckle – RM77.00
This dish was the star of the night and everyone dug in very enthusiastically! Aside from the crispy pork knuckle, this dish also came with sausages and potato wedges with a smattering of vegetables (perhaps to ease your conscience for eating so much meat) along with three (3) different sauces.

Pan Fried Seabass – RM31.00
I have a thing for fish dishes with crispy skin and this one had exactly that!
Hokkien Mee – RM19.00
If you’re more into local flavours, the Hokkien Mee at Hoopla is pretty decent.
All in all I’d say Hoopla is a good place to go if you’re looking for a place to have some decent wines without burning a huge hole in your pocket. Hoopla also shares the complimentary valet service with Chapter One (downstairs) which is very convenient as parking can be rather hard to find in the area.
Hoopla is located at:
