[Review]
Denise and I headed over to Nerovivo in Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur for lunch at this long-standing establishment that has been the mainstay of Italian restaurants in Kuala Lumpur for over 10 years. My previous visit to Nerovivo was for the review of their MIGF 2015 menu which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2015/10/11/migf-review-nerovivo/
Being an Italian restaurant, Nerovivo has a good selection of homemade pastas and pizzas however this time round we decided to try out their antipasto and mains instead.

Big juicy prawns with a very refreshing roasted pine nut salad. Now I really don’t know how to appreciate artichokes but as they were nicely cooked I ate them anyway. Good thing there was Denise to assist with the vege.

A plump and juicy pan-seared scallop with puttanesca sauce which is typically made of tomatoes, olive oil, anchovies, olives, capers and garlic. Here’s where the house breads came in very useful to mop up the remaining sauce after we finished the scallop. Don’t share this one! Have it all to yourself!

This was a dish that I’ve never tried before so I just had to order it! Chunks of cod in what is essentially a potato gratin (a dish which I love!) and smothered in cheese! For a cheese and potato lover like me, this was heaven! However, it can get rather rich so I’d suggest that you share it. Pair it with another main such as the steak below which will totally cut through the richness.

There is absolutely nothing I enjoy more than a juicy and tender steak! This striploin is a seasonal item on the menu and we ordered this as unfortunately the restaurant had just run out of wagyu! Loved the soft and creamy bed of mash and the mushrooms on the side. The steak is good enough to eat on its own but if you’re the type who likes sauce, you can opt to drizzle some of the accompanying sauce on top.

A rich and creamy end to the meal. We ordered coffee to go with this dessert and it was the perfect accompaniment! The piquant fruits balanced out the rich flavours a bit but I still needed to coffee to cut through. Share this one unless you absolutely love creamy desserts.

Although Nerovivo has been around for a decade, the food is still decent and enjoyed by locals and expatriates alike. Look out for their on-going promotions (in the visual below) at the outlet.
