Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur Hotel will be having a “Kenduri Berbuka” experience at Essence Restaurant, featuring favourite mouth-watering delights at a collection of stalls and live cooking stations which are traditionally decorated to its food origins.

Essence will have more than 300 mouth-watering specialties from traditional Malay cuisines, and other local favourites and International delights. Guest can expect an array of famous dishes such as Essence’s Nyonya Kerabu Sotong (Nyonya Squid Salad), Nasi Tomato (traditional tomato rice), Ayam Panggang Tempoyak (Grilled Chicken with tempoyak sauce), Lamb Rack Curry Kapitan and Sotong Sumbat Nasi Dagang. Look out for the 120-metre buffet spread, where you can witness the chefs create dishes at live cooking stations using the freshest ingredients.

The Buffet is priced at RM160 nett per person with an early bird promotion priced at RM100 nett (until 04 June 2016). The ‘Kenduri Berbuka’ at Essence Restaurant is available for dinner only from 8th June until 4th July 2016. Children below 4 years old eat for free and Children aged 4 to 12 years old will received 50% discount.    

For guest staying in-house, the hotel also provide sahur meals set delivered to rooms. There are 3 different set menus to choose from, which includes favourites such as Ikan Patin Singgang (Patin Fish Soup with lemongrass and galangal), Baked Lamb with Coconut Spice, Oxtail soup with potato and carrot and many more. Melanie and I headed over to The Westin Kuala Lumpur to try their ‘Santapan Juadah Kampung’, an impressive spread of traditional Malaysian meals with popular and nostalgic dishes in the ‘kampung’ themed venue at The Living Room. The dedicated culinary team led by Executive Chef Rudy Junaidie has also prepared some authentic Malaysian cuisine such as roti canai, popiah, chicken rice, pasta, yong tau foo in various live cooking stations.

Enjoy a wide selection of delicious appetizers, must-have cuisines and irresistible desserts with more than 70 mouth-watering dishes laid out in the buffet aisle. Santapan Juadah Kampung promises a good start with dishes such as Kerabu Pelam Daging Bakar (Spiced Mango with Grilled Beef Salad), Ayam Panggang Pedas Pucuk Paku (Spicy Roasted Chicken Ground Coconut Tendrils), Rendang Minang Ayam Kampung (Slow cooked chicken with turmeric roots, galangal, lemongrass and coconut cream ‘Minang’ style), Sambal Paru (Braised Beef Lungs with Spice Chili paste) and many more. The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur has prepared a breaking of fast buffet entitled “Juadah di bawah Sinaran Bintang” providing guests the option of dining under the stars at its scenic poolside area or at its all-day casual dining outlet, Charcoal. The hotel’s Executive Sous Chef, Chef Hussian Bavutty, together with his talented team have skilfully put together a sumptuous buffet spread which feature over 150 mouth-watering dishes ranging from local and traditional Malaysian delicacies to Arabic, Japanese and Western cuisine.

With traditional elements retained in the preparation of dishes, guests can find many must-try Malay dishes from the main buffet counter, including one of Charcoal restaurant’s signature Sup Gear Box (Beef Bone Broth), Stir Fried Squid with Black Bean Sauce, Nasi Bukhara Ayam (Chicken Bukhara Rice) and Daging Rendang Tok (Dry Beef Rendang). Those who prefer lighter and healthier options can toss up their own Ulam-ulam (Mixed Viands), or pick from a variety of ready-made salads on offer.

Desserts include Bubur Durian dengan Pulut (Durian Puree with Glutinous Rice), Sago Gula Melaka (Sago Pudding with Palm Sugar), Hazelnut Chocolate Cake, Strawberry Cheese Cake, Dark Cherry Bread Pudding, a selection of Malay Kuih and many others.

The Buka Puasa Buffet is priced at RM145nett per person and half price for children from 6 to 12 years old. For only RM170nett per person, durian lovers can enjoy both the Buka Puasa Buffet as well as the all-you-can-eat D24 durian. Tropicana Golf & Country Resort’s (TGCR) The Palm Coffee House will be having a special buffet entitled “Santapan 29 Malam” this Ramadan. Diners can expect to feast on the nostalgic “kampung” cuisine whilst listening to the traditional contemporary Ghazal tunes. The Executive Chef alongside with his team has carefully prepared 300 variety of dishes, including the Warung Gulai Kawah, Aneka Soup Tropicana, Kambing Golek Tropicana and newly added favourable choices to this year’s menu.
