Food Review – Hoofed Wine Bar @ TTDI

[Food Review]

In the bustling neighbourhood of Taman Tun Dr. Ismail or TTDI for short is Hoofed wine bar which is located just above the popular Tom, Dick & Harry’s (TDH) watering hole. Initially opened a couple of years back, the establishment (which is also owner by the guys from TDH) has since undergone a minor renovation to keep it up to date with the times as well as new partners coming in.

The row of shops which TDH and Hoofed are on is pretty known for its busy watering holes which attracts both residents of TTDI as well as neighbouring areas alike for happy hours, dinner and after dinner drinks which tend to go on till late. This row has seen the mainstays or pioneers such as TDH and Sid’s garnering their faithful following while new outlets have also popped up along the row.

From a marketing perspective, there’s heavy competition along the row which is why I think it’s quite smart for Hoofed to retain its concept as a wine bar that also serves some delicious porky (and non porky) dishes!

We decided to have the Alkoomi white label Cabernet Merlot 2012, Australia and the Huntaway Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2014, New Zealand, both of which are easy to drink with the Sauvignon Blanc proving to be a really refreshing choice!

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to wines at Hoofed with the more easy on the pocket entry-level wines to the premium and high-end wines for those with deep pockets.

Now on to the food!

Thai Grilled Pork Neck – RM18.00

What a great start to the meal! This is one appetising dish that grows on you and goes well with drinks. Tender chucks of Thai style grilled pork neck that incredibly addictive! I just couldn’t stop eating this.

Chicken lollipop – RM15.00

Now this is beer food! Goes great with wine too.

Pork Neck Loh Bak

My mind was transported back to my mom’s hometown of Penang where I would order this dish at every opportunity! Glad to actually find a decent one not in a smelly coffeeshop or noisy food court!

Mushroom Bruschetta – RM15.00

A favourite appetiser of mine that’s well executed at Hoofed.

Grilled Barbecue Glazed Lamb

Oh yeah! Now this is something for a meat lover like me! Flavourful and tender pieces of lamb that would go along great with beer or the red wine.

Oxtail Ragout – RM53.00

Another dish that I liked! Loved the tender flesh that easily fell off the bone, and the flavourful broth which went along great with the toast bread. A very hearty dish indeed!

Pan Seared Barramundi – RM43.00

This is great for those who have a large appetite!

Apple Crumble – RM12.00

A nice sweet ending to a wonderful evening. Regina enjoyed this one.

All prices above are excluding 6% GST and 10% service charge.
