[Ramadan Buffet Special]
This was my very last Ramadan buffet review for 2015 (I forced myself to stop at five reviews this year) and it was also my first visit to Makan Kitchen at the Double Tree in Kuala Lumpur. Makan Kitchen is the hotel’s local food restaurant and serves a variety of local fare including Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine as well as other local favourites from all over Malaysia.
Makan Kitchen’s Ramadan buffet aims to bring back your nostalgic childhood memories of home-cooked buka puasa meals with a spread that features traditional favourites and Malay delights such as Kambing Panggang Berempah, Sup Kawah, Laksa Sarawak, Rendang Daging Rusuk, Satay Aneka and more!
Makan Kitchen also has live cooking stations serving popular Ramadhan choices which ensure that your food is prepared fresh before your eyes, while a live band performance who will keep you entertained throughout the dinner. The 350-seat restaurant offers ample locally themed semi private and private rooms, which you can book to have a more private dinner with family members and friends, or perhaps to entertain your business partners and clients.
Lots of main dishes were in the Malay and local (non-Chinese/ Indian) food section. Look out for the roast lamb which is prepared in the local style, as well as a variety of noodles which are prepared on demand.
There’s also a Chinese section featuring a spread of Chinese dishes. Look out for the yong tau foo and the roast duck!
The Indian section was my favourite. You get to order naan and in this instance we ordered the cheese naan which was one of the best I’ve ever had. I paired it with the butter chicken and I must say that these were my two (2) favourite dishes of the night! There’s also a spread of curries which you can pair with Briyani rice, roti canai or murtabak. The tandoori chicken is also worth a mention.
And for you sweet tooths out there, there is a huge spread of local and Western desserts which includes ais kacang and ice cream! I managed to squeeze a few in before washing down the meal with some hot teh tarik, and coffee to help me stay awake after such a huge meal.
MHB’s Nicole and Jean looking very satisfied indeed!
I must say that I was pretty impressed with this Ramadan buffet. A good number of choices of dishes and the Indian section had food which rivalled those of many curry houses!
