Following the GUINNESS® Amplify Live Tour media launch last month (which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2014/08/31/guinness-amplify-press-conference-at-laundry-bar-the-curve-260814/) was the first venue for the tour which was The Bee in Publika, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday 6th September. This first show featured US singer-songwriter Howie Day, known for his smash-hit singles ‘Collide’ and ‘She Says’, along with local bands Kyoto Protocol and Paperplane Pursuit.
The GUINNESS® Amplify Live Tour is in celebration of Music Made of More, and give fans the opportunity to enjoy a night of good music from the talented, dedicated, and passionate artists. The campaign features 14 Malaysian acts who will be joined by international guest stars in a series of six (6) free-admission gigs in outlets around Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor, and the grand finale show in Kuala Lumpur.
Local boys Paperplane Pursuit who have hits playing on Hitz.fm and local stations, kicked off the night with their upbeat, high-energy set playing a selection of their well-known hits and even their unique take on Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya!’.

Local rockers Kyoto Protocol were next, playing a rare acoustic set featuring ‘Give Me Nothing’, their new single ‘Dispensable’, and their rendition of the Pearl Jam classic ‘Jeremy’, showing just how versatile they are.
Both acts warmed up the crowd nicely and by the time special guest star Howie Day, the singer-songwriter from Maine in the USA made his appearance and sang his first song, the crowd was crowd eating out of the eating out of the palm of his hand. He also drove the crowd wild when he sang his smash-hit songs ‘Collide’ and ‘She Says’, along with a mix of his classics and some more recent numbers in a passionate, emotional, and powerful set.
Some lucky GUINNESS® fans earned themselves exclusive, money-can’t-buy passes to the Grand Finale at KL Live, while all the guests enjoyed special promos on GUINNESS® Draught and GUINNESS® Foreign Extra Stout.
