I generally dislike going to KL city close to rush hours however as I was feeling particularly curious this time round I decided to head over to the KL Convention Centre on 18 February 2014 for the OPPO Electronics Corp launch of the OPPO N1 smartphone.
OPPO originates from Guangdong, China but has grown and how has it’s presence in several countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, India and Mexico, while the brand is also in the United States, marketing its Blu-ray range of products.
More than 1,500 engineers were involved in the research and development process of the OPPO N1 over a period of 18 months (as opposed to the normal 12 months or less it normally takes to come up with a smartphone). OPPO manufactured some parts of the phone in-house, and the units underwent several tests including temperature, humidity, and weather conditions before the final product was release to the market.
OPPO N1 is positioned as OPPO’s flagship smartphone and features a 5.9-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 600, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and the signature swivelling 13MP camera with dual LED flash, which can rotate up to 206 degrees and can lock at any angle. The camera allows users to take high-quality selfies instead of normally relying on the lower quality front camera found in most smartphones.
The O-touch panel on the back of the N1 can switch on the picture mode without touching the screen, and take pictures with it. There is also a keychain-friendly O-Click remote that connects to the phone via Bluetooth for off-device operation and control, including remote camera operation.
The OPPO N1 come with their own custom Color OS which uses Android 4.2, which allows users to draw on the screen with one finger to turn on the phone/flash, two fingers to control volume, and three fingers to screen shoot, or draw certain letters to activate apps such as the camera.
The OPPO N1 is priced at RM1,798.00
At the launch, OPPO also debuted the Find 5 Mini, R1, and OPPO Neo to the Malaysian media.

I don’t usually like to include ads in my posts but I thought that what they did which was pretty nice and not so hard-sell – telling the story from two (2) perspectives while actually showing off some of the phone’s key features. And the girl is pretty… Enough said!
So here’s her perspective first.
And here’s his perspective.
