FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour
[Event]
Had the opportunity to get up close to the FIFA World Cup trophy at the exclusive media/ VIP preview at Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur on 4 January 2014 before the trophy was open to the public to take photos with it at PWTC on 5 January.
The trophy tour which was presented by Coca-Cola began in the FIFA 2014 World Cup host country in Rio de Janeiro in September 2013 and will travel 149,576.78km to 88 countries in a journey that will take nine (9) months.
The trophy measures 36.8cm high, weighs 6.18kg and is made of solid 18-carat gold with a base of semi-precious malachite. On the bottom of the trophy is engraved the year and names of the winning country since 1974.
The salad counter featured a wide array of both fresh and cooked vegetablesThese cute fruit salads caught my attention and were a nice juicy start to the mealFor those of you who prefer some cooked vege there are multiple choices as well such as the roasted eggplant and grilled tomatoes topped with cheese!Another fav or mine – beef pastrami! Not something that’s common as restaurants normally just serve beef cold cuts like salami.“Virgin Mary” (the non-alcoholic version of the “Bloody Mary”) shooters! So good that I had a couple of these! For those of you who likes your breads you’d be pleased to know that Sheraton Imperial KL makes their own very delicious and tasty breads!A couple of cheeses like Brie, Edam to go with your breads or crackersThere’s even a caesar salad trolley whereby the staff will come over and make the salad for you right at your table! Really saves you the trouble of mixing and tossing it yourself.
There’s the usual cooked international and local buffet spread and I quite liked the satay (pictured above) however I was really impressed with the number of on-demand cooking stations where the chefs would quickly whip up a dish that you want.
The pasta/ risotto stationDelicious, tender and flavourful tandoori chicken! There’s also a noodle station where I counted four (4) different types of broth and various noodles for you to choose fromVege and condiments to go with your noodlesFour (4) different types of noodles and even more condimentsThey even have a (Chinese style) steamed fish station where there are different types of fish available on daily rotation (the fish of the day during my visit was salmon which is a very healthy fish).Meat lovers rejoice! There’s a BBQ meat station where you can choose from beef, lamb, chicken, seafood, and fish and the chef on duty will BBQ it for you!
We opted for the Portugese style fish which was pretty good! Reminded me of the famous one in the Mid Valley Megamall food court. The Japanese food station was another fav station of mine. You can ask the chef to prepare your choice of rolls (eg. California roll, soft-shell crab roll). We opted for fresh fried and crispy seafood tempura! There’s also a selection of pre-made sushi with accompanying confimentsI’m quite the carnivore so I was delighted to see the roast beef stationAccompanying the roast beef were stuffed and fried potatoesI think kids would really love the popcorn and the chocolate fountain!
You can also opt to have the buffet + free-flow of house wines for RM138++ per person
