Casual Dining – Hugo’s on 6, Best Western Premier Dua Sentral

[Casual Dining]

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Best Western Premier Dua Sentral therefore my partner in crime and I decided to head over to try out HUGO’s on 6 – a restaurant and bar right next to the swimming pool on the 6th floor of the hotel. HUGO’s on 6 is BEST WESTERN PREMIER Dua Sentral’s signature restaurant and serves Mediterranean and Asian cuisines with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

On the menu is a full range of beverages, from beers to single malt Scotch whiskies, cognacs, and liqueurs and even interesting champagne cocktails! If you’re feeling peckish there are also crispy hot pizzas, sandwiches, tapas, appetizers, mains, and burgers.

A pic beside the hotel’s infinity pool which offer a nice view of Kuala Lumpur city. A nice candid and natural photo of my partner in crime. Didn’t tell her I was taking the shot hehehe!
The interior of Hugo's on 6 is warm and inviting. You can also opt to dine outside al fresco style beside the swimming pool but I prefer dining in the aircon.

Hugo’s on 6 can accommodate up to 200 persons at one time. There is also a private dining room which seats 8 to 10 persons for diners who prefer a little more privacy.
Browsing the menu we were attracted to the champagne cocktails section! Not many bars in KL actually have champagne cocktails.

I convinced the bartender to allow my partner in crime to assist him in making the cocktails to which he obliged.
On the left are two of the champagne cocktails while the two glasses on the right are actually one cocktail. Fire extinguisher I believe it was called. The little glass contained a spicy cilipadi cocktail while the martini glass on the right contained a sweet and slightly sour cocktail designed to counter the heat. Certainly the first time I’ve had something like that before!

A pic of us taken by the nice folks of Best Western Dua Sentral
Roasted Tomato Soup with Basil Cream – RM15.00 – loved the deep flavours of the roasted tomatoes which was balanced out with the creaminess of the basil cream. I’ve not been to many restaurants which actually offer this dish or can prepare a good one and I must say that this is one of the most memorable ones. A nice and heart-warming start to the meal!
Watermelon & Feta Cheese Salad with red onions, cress and extra virgin olive oil – RM19.00 – this way also an unusual salad which is why we picked it. I like the fact that Hugo’s on 6 is not serving all the boring old dishes that you find everywhere else. This salad was juicy and refreshing with the watermelons adding a nice texture while the balsamic vinegar gave a little twang to it.
Pizza Padana – RM25.00 – a freshly baked pizza with marinated tomatoes, fresh basil, pesto, baby mozzarella and garlic oil and because the chef wanted to impress us he added in a little blue cheese as well which was wonderful for cheese lovers like us. The garlic oil was separate (where the bottle of Tabasco sauce is) and you could sprinkle the amount you wanted on top of the pizza before eating it.
Here’s a close look at our modified Pizza Padana. Can you spot the blue cheese?
Blackened Salmon – RM35.00 – with a crispy sesame seed crust, honey and kikkoman soy sauce and braised pak choy. A little East meets West dish here but the flavours all went well together and this way probably helped by the fact that the salmon was very fresh and lacked the fishy smell. Liked how the honey Kikkoman sauce added some sweetness and savouriness to the fish at the same time!

We also had time to pop by Grand Trinidad Cigar Divan which offers an extensive range of Cuba’s finest cigars and accessories like cigar cutters, boxes, lighters, etc. etc.. The huge range of cigars were kept in a specially humidified room to ensure that the cigars don’t become hard.

Hugo’s on 6 is a nice place to chill and grab something to eat and drink while chilling to the live band or watching the KL skyline. Should you visit don’t forget to try their champagne cocktails as they are not very commonly found in KL!
