Amber Chia Academy Graduation Show – Spring / Summer 2013

It was a rainy Friday evening on 3 May 2013 and I was feeling rather lazy after a long working week but as I promised Amber and Benjamin a week earlier during the Paradigm Mall Spring Summer Fashion Show Gala that I would attend their graduation I made my way over through the crazy rush hour LDP jam to Paradigm Mall. Arrived there early and helped myself to a couple of cold Kronenbourg 1664 lagers and did my usual mingling with the sponsors, models and celebs before the show started.

Amber Chia Academy’s (ACA) third graduation show was in conjunction with Paradigm Mall’s “In Style Spring / Summer 2013” fashion week, and had over a hundred modelling, kids modelling, makeup, and photography students graduating from both ACA Jaya One as well as ACA Berjaya Times Square.

Highlights of the evening consisted of a presentation of “Era Makeup Evolution”, which presented notable and fashionable makeup trends evolving as the eras go by; a “Garden Fairy Bride” makeup show, with the models parading Keith Kee Couture; “Red Revolution” and Key Ng fashion showcases; and also a “Joy of Colours” fashion show by kid models.

Makeup Guru Jil Yong, Makeup Coach Pinky Chia, and Makeup Instructor Quennel Quan, also debuted their “Post-Apocalyptic Avant Garde” makeup masterpieces, whereby the models were also sporting nail art by Nail Art Instructor Yannie Wong.

But it was the kids who really stole the show and had the parents and adults cheering them on

After the fashion shows and makeup presentations, ACA students received their graduation certificates from Principal Amber Chia. This was followed by the award presentation for Fan Favourite ACA Model, Most Promising (Female & Male) Kid Models, Most Promising Makeup Artist, Most Promising Photographer, Most Promising (Female & Male) Commercial Faces, and Most Promising (Female & Male) Models.

“It feels like ACA was born not too long ago, and I cannot believe that this is our third graduation show already! I am truly grateful for the opportunity, through ACA, to be able to discover and train fresh talents for the industry, and I hope these new talents can go on to make Malaysia proud on an international level,” shared Chia. Hmmm actually I was there for the opening of her first academy in Jaya One PJ. Three years seemed to go by in a flash! Guess I was having a lot of fun.

Since its inception almost, ACA graduates have been competing and subsequently winning various model searches (including Victor Yong who won the FHM Girl Next Door 2013 Search recently), beauty pageants, and makeup competitions, in their efforts to carve promising career paths for themselves in the industry.
