Smartphones have been around for a while and have revolutionised the way we keep in touch by allowing us access to the internet, games, social media platforms and of course communication apps!
WeChat is a mobile phone text and messaging communications service developed by Tencent in China. It was initially launched as Weixin in China in January 2011, with international language support enable in October 2011. It was rebranded as WeChat in April 2012 and has more than 300 million users by January 2013.
I had the opportunity to discover more about this fast-growing application at the WeChat Party 2013 at Neverland KL on 2 April 2013.

WeChat took the opportunity to showcase it’s latest Malaysian ad featuringLisa Surihani & Shaheizy Sam.
The party featured a welcome speech with Mr. Poshu Yeung the Vice President of Tencent Internation Business, a vocal performance by Vivian Chua, Henley Hii and Awi Rafael. Guests also played games to win prizes and an iPad.
WeChat features include:
Video Call – Video Call is available on WeChat versions 4.2 and later, allowing you to talk to your friends face to face.
Moments – Allows you to share photos, as well as ‘like’ and comment on photos
Voice Chat – Record and transmit a voice message
