Movie – Marvel’s The Avengers

[Movie Review]

So it was with great anticipation that I woke up early on Tuesday, 24 April 2012 and headed over to the IMAX hall at TGV Sunway Pyramid together with MHB’s Kate Lee, Michelle Lee, Andy Kho and Ashley Mah for the press screening of Marvel’s The Avengers.

Marvel’s The Avengers features a team up of many of Marvel’s well loved heroes namely Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow to battle an unexpected enemy that threatens global safety and security.

While the previous ‘solo’ super hero movies like Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America saw the heroes individually battling the forces of evil, this time their foes are of such a great magnitude that it will require all of them to work together to save the earth.

Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson (Mace Windu in Star Wars), is the Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., and finds himself in need of a ‘special’ team to save the world from certain doom. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins in a desperate fight against time and the evil forces of Loki (Thor’s adopted brother).

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson, and written and directed by Joss Whedon, from a story by Zak Penn and Joss Whedon, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963 and a comics institution ever since.

Marvel’s The Avengers is definitely an exciting movie, packed with action and spectacular special effects and will probably be one of the best (if not the best) action flick of summer 2012.

My recommendations? Watch it in IMAX or Digital 3D! It’s worth every cent!

Marvel’s The Avengers opens in Malaysian cinemas on 27 April 2012.
