BYD Sime Motors Launches 2026 ATTO 3 in Malaysia, Nation First in Asia Pacific for Debut

BYD Sime Motors launched the 2026 BYD ATTO 3 in Malaysia on 5 June 2026, making the country the first market in Asia Pacific to receive the updated model. The launch, held at the Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026 at XOX Arena, The Arch Galeries Kuala Lumpur, introduced two variants — Ultra at RM125,800 and Premium at RM138,800 — and marks a significant product evolution for a model that has already become Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle of all time.
The 2026 ATTO 3’s debut coincides with a notable industry milestone: BYD Sime Motors confirmed that cumulative BYD vehicle sales in Malaysia have surpassed 32,000 units, with the ATTO 3 alone accounting for 12,000 of those — establishing it as the country’s single best-selling EV model since BYD entered the market in December 2022, a span of less than four years.
“The BYD ATTO 3 is the model that marked the beginning of BYD’s journey in Malaysia and continues to be an important part of our success here. Building on its global success of over 1.1 million units, the new BYD ATTO 3 takes a proven product and elevates it further, offering a more refined driving experience, improved range, and enhanced everyday usability that together deliver greater value for customers.”
Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia

“When we introduced BYD to Malaysia in December 2022, the BYD ATTO 3 was more than just a new SUV — it sparked a nationwide movement towards electric mobility. Today, it stands as the best-selling EV model in Malaysia of all time with a total of 12,000 BYD ATTO 3 sold in the nation. The 2026 BYD ATTO 3 continues that journey, with updated product specifications that directly address the needs of Malaysian drivers. By combining enhanced performance, smarter technology, and everyday practicality, this latest model is tailored to fit seamlessly into modern Malaysian lifestyles.”
Adeline Lew, Managing Director of BYD Sime Motors

The 2026 ATTO 3 is offered in two meaningfully differentiated variants. The Ultra is powered by a 60.48 kWh BYD Blade Battery producing 150 kW and 310 Nm, with a claimed range of 480 km on the NEDC cycle and DC fast charging at up to 110 kW. The Premium steps up to a 74.88 kWh Blade Battery delivering 230 kW and 380 Nm, a claimed 600 km on the NEDC cycle and DC fast charging at up to 220 kW — among the faster charging rates available in the compact electric SUV segment at this price point. Both variants use BYD’s Lithium Iron Phosphate Blade Battery, a chemistry associated with thermal stability and long-term cycle durability. As with all NEDC-based range figures, real-world results will vary with driving conditions, speed, load and ambient temperature.
The distinction between the two variants extends to drivetrain configuration: the Ultra is front-wheel drive, while the Premium adopts rear-wheel drive — a change that contributes directly to the Premium’s 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds, compared with 7.3 seconds for the Ultra. The suspension setups differ accordingly: the Ultra uses MacPherson struts with a multi-link rear arrangement, while the Premium adopts a MacPherson with dual-ball joint front and a more sophisticated five-link multi-link rear — a setup typically associated with improved handling composure and stability at higher speeds.
Both variants share a cabin centred on a 15.6-inch centre screen and 8.8-inch digital instrument panel, with 50W wireless charging and a panoramic roof as standard. Driver and front passenger ventilated seats are fitted across the range — a practical specification for Malaysian driving conditions that is not universally available at this price tier. The Premium adds a front trunk with 101 litres of storage, six-way lumbar adjustment for the driver, a six-way power-adjustable front passenger seat and a front far-side centre airbag, bringing its total airbag count to seven versus six on the Ultra.
Maximum luggage capacity is 1,340 litres on the Ultra and 1,360 litres on the Premium with rear seats folded, with the Premium’s frunk providing an additional 101 litres of separate, secure storage. Four exterior colours are available across both variants: Ski White, Atlantis Grey, Harbour Grey and Cosmos Black.
Both variants are equipped with ADAS systems, with the Premium receiving an enhanced suite covering a broader range of active safety and driver assistance functions.
Customers purchasing during the launch period can access a package valued at up to RM14,000. The first 500 customers receive an early bird overtrade allowance of RM10,000, with a choice of a wall charger with standard installation or a six-year standard service package. Standard ownership coverage includes a six-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an eight-year or 160,000 km high-voltage Blade Battery warranty and an eight-year or 160,000 km drive unit warranty. Complimentary accessories include a V2L adapter and a Type 2 charging cable with three-pin plug.
BYD Sime Motors’ current national network spans 44 sales and marketing points, 25 aftersales facilities and 12 body and paint outlets, supported by a 95% aftersales parts fill rate. The 2026 ATTO 3 is available for viewing and booking at the Sime Motors MotorExpo 2026 through June 7 and at all authorised BYD showrooms nationwide.
At RM125,800 and RM138,800 respectively, the 2026 ATTO 3 variants are separated by RM13,000 — a gap that buys a meaningful step-up in capability rather than a cosmetic one. The Premium’s shift to rear-wheel drive, 5.5-second acceleration, 220 kW fast charging and 600 km claimed range collectively represent a more substantial product differentiation than is typical between trim levels in this segment. For buyers who regularly use public DC fast chargers, the jump from 110 kW to 220 kW charging speed on the Premium has practical daily implications: a shorter stop on a highway journey, faster top-ups during a lunch break, and less dependency on overnight home charging to start each day with a full battery. The frunk, while modest at 101 litres, adds genuine utility for buyers who need secure, separate storage — a feature more commonly associated with vehicles at twice the price.
For the broader market, the 2026 ATTO 3 launch carries a signal that goes beyond the product itself. Malaysia being selected as the first Asia Pacific market for the updated model’s debut reflects a maturity in the local EV ecosystem that was not present even three years ago. With 32,000 cumulative BYD units now on Malaysian roads, a 44-point sales network, 25 dedicated aftersales centres and a proven 95% parts fill rate, the ownership infrastructure supporting the ATTO 3 is now sufficiently established to be a genuine factor in the purchase decision — not merely a reassurance. For buyers who deferred an EV purchase in 2022 or 2023 partly due to infrastructure concern, the ownership case in 2026 is meaningfully stronger.

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford Expands Everest Range with Three New Variants

Later that afternoon, Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, introduced three new additions to the Ford Everest lineup: the Everest Platinum 3.0L, Everest Platinum 2.0L and Everest Sport 2.0L. The expanded range is priced from RM316,888 and represents one of the most significant single expansions of the Ford Everest lineup in the Malaysian market.
“The Ford Everest has earned strong trust among Malaysian customers for its capability and everyday practicality. With these new variants, we are expanding our offerings to ensure Malaysians have access to vehicles that suit a wide range of lifestyles, whether for family journeys, everyday commuting, outdoor adventures or a more premium ownership experience. This expansion reinforces our commitment to growing the Ford portfolio in Malaysia and meeting evolving customer expectations in the SUV segment.”
Turse Zuhair, Managing Director of Auto ConneXion
At the top of the range, the Ford Everest Platinum 3.0L is powered by a 3.0-litre four-valve DOHC V6 turbocharged diesel engine producing 183.8 kW (250 PS) at 3,250 rpm and 600 Nm of torque between 1,750 and 2,000 rpm — making it the most powerful Everest variant available in Malaysia to date. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission with an eShifter, it is equipped with an ElectroMagnetic Transfer Case (EMTC) enabling full-time four-wheel drive with intelligent torque distribution across varying terrain.
The Platinum 3.0L is a seven-seater, with third-row power-folded seats — a configuration uncommon in its class — and rides on 21-inch alloy wheels with 275/45 R21 tyres. Matrix LED headlights with signature C-clamp daytime running lights, a bold black PLATINUM lettering detail on the hood, front doors and tailgate, and a 12-inch multi-touch display running Ford SYNC 4A with wireless connectivity complete the flagship specification. Three colour options are available: Acacia Green, Meteor Grey and Absolute Black.

The Ford Everest Platinum 2.0L pairs the Platinum design and technology package with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 125 kW (170 PS) and 405 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Unlike the flagship, it uses an Electronic Shift-On-The-Fly (ESOF) part-time four-wheel drive system. It shares the Platinum 3.0L’s Matrix LED headlights, C-clamp daytime running lights, premium grille design and 12-inch touchscreen with Ford SYNC 4A, riding on 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/55 R20 tyres. Four colour options are available: Acacia Green, Meteor Grey, Arctic White and Absolute Black.

The Ford Everest Sport 2.0L is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit producing 125 kW (170 PS) at 3,500 rpm and 405 Nm between 1,750 and 2,000 rpm, paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic and ESOF part-time four-wheel drive. It introduces six selectable drive modes — including Mud/Ruts and Sand — broadening its terrain capability for buyers who prioritise weekend and off-road versatility alongside daily use. Sporty two-tone seats and bold black exterior accents distinguish its cabin and exterior character from the Platinum variants. Four colours are available: Command Grey, Lightning Blue, Arctic White and Absolute Black.

Customers who confirm a purchase of any of the three new Everest variants in June are eligible for two years of complimentary servicing. Ford’s ongoing Fuel Rush Bonanza campaign, running until June 30, gives new Ford vehicle purchasers a chance to win a year’s worth of free fuel, alongside lifestyle and home prizes. All three variants are available for order at authorised Ford dealerships nationwide.
For Malaysian buyers in the upper SUV segment, the three-variant Everest expansion addresses a range of ownership profiles that a single specification previously could not accommodate. The Platinum 3.0L makes the clearest case for buyers seeking a genuine flagship family SUV — its 600 Nm V6 engine, full-time four-wheel drive and power-folded third-row seating put it in territory that few seven-seaters at any price offer as a complete package. The full-time EMTC system is particularly worth noting: unlike part-time four-wheel drive configurations that require manual engagement, EMTC manages torque distribution continuously and automatically, making it the more practical choice for buyers who encounter varied road conditions regularly without necessarily seeking deliberate off-road use.
The Everest Sport 2.0L serves a different but equally considered buyer — one who wants the Everest’s underlying capability credentials and terrain versatility packaged in a more dynamic aesthetic rather than a premium one, at a more accessible price. The six drive modes, including Mud/Ruts and Sand, give it genuine off-road utility that goes beyond what the cabin styling alone might suggest. For buyers who currently use their SUV predominantly on sealed roads but want the option of more adventurous weekend use, the Sport 2.0L represents a more purposeful choice than a lifestyle SUV of comparable price. The Platinum 2.0L sits logically between the two — sharing the flagship’s luxury presentation and technology while offering a more familiar power output for buyers who do not require the V6’s performance ceiling.
