TAG Heuer Expands Formula 1 Solargraph Line with Pastel Collection

TAG Heuer has unveiled a pastel addition to its Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm collection, presenting five new dial colourways that draw on the line’s four-decade association with motorsport while targeting a contemporary aesthetic sensibility.

The new series comprises three standard editions — beige opalin, pastel pink opalin, and pastel blue opalin — alongside two diamond-set interpretations in pastel green and lavender blue. All five are powered by the Solargraph movement, TAG Heuer’s light-harvesting calibre, which was first introduced into the Formula 1 collection in 2025, marking a significant development for a line that has consistently evolved alongside shifts in design, technology, and cultural preferences.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 was introduced in 1986 as the first watch to carry the TAG Heuer name, distinguished at the time by its bold use of colour, daring design language, and innovative composite case construction that reflected the dynamism of the era. The collection quickly became closely associated with Formula 1 racing — a sport where, as the brand has long noted, precision and emotion coexist at considerable intensity — and was adopted by a generation drawn to speed, competition, and self-expression.

The new pastel editions revisit that chromatic identity through a softer register, rendered in opalin dials with contrasting cool grey minuterie on the standard models. Where the original Formula 1 watches made their statement through saturated, high-contrast colour, the 2026 pastel series pursues a more restrained visual language — one the brand describes as projecting optimism, clarity, and vibrant self-expression within a refined contemporary frame.

Production is limited across all five references. The beige opalin edition — whose harmonious palette the brand associates with sunlit surfaces and understated warmth — is capped at 3,500 pieces. The pastel blue opalin, positioned as the most serene of the three standard models, with cool tonality intended to evoke open horizons and fluid movement, is limited to 3,000 pieces. The pastel pink opalin, presented as the most expressive of the trio with a fully monochromatic composition, is limited to 2,500 pieces.

The two diamond-set models are more tightly restricted. The pastel green edition is limited to 1,500 pieces, while the lavender blue — accented with pastel pink minuterie and diamond-set indexes designed to enhance depth and catch the light — is limited to 1,000 pieces.

Cases across the standard editions are constructed in TH Polylight, TAG Heuer’s proprietary composite material, chosen for both its low weight and its ability to amplify chromatic intensity, lending each reference a tactile lightness alongside visual presence. The bidirectional bezel, Mercedes-style hour hand, and shield appliqués — longstanding design signatures of the Formula 1 line — are retained across all five references, anchoring the new colourways firmly within the collection’s established identity.

The two diamond-set editions depart from the composite construction of the core trio, housed instead in sandblasted steel and fitted with a three-row steel bracelet, lending them a heightened sense of refinement while preserving the broader Formula 1 aesthetic. The standard editions are fitted with rubber straps suited to the line’s more casual, sport-adjacent positioning.

The Solargraph movement at the heart of each watch converts both natural and artificial light into stored energy, a technology TAG Heuer has positioned as reflective of the forward-thinking innovation that has historically driven the brand. According to TAG Heuer, two minutes of direct sunlight provides sufficient charge to power the watch for a full day, while a complete charge — achieved after fewer than 40 hours of light exposure — delivers up to ten months of autonomy in total darkness. Should the watch stop entirely, ten seconds of light exposure is sufficient to restart it. The movement’s accumulator is rated for up to 15 years of service life, which TAG Heuer cites as a measure of the calibre’s long-term reliability.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm pastel collection is available now.
