Bombardier has begun commercial service of its Global 8000 business aircraft, marking the entry into operation of the fastest civil aircraft since the Concorde retired in 2003. The delivery ceremony took place on 8 December 2025 at the company’s Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga before an audience of employees, government officials, suppliers, media representatives, and invited guests.
Patrick Dovigi received the keys to the first production Global 8000 aircraft, becoming the inaugural customer for the flagship model. A Bombardier customer for more than 15 years, Dovigi’s new aircraft replaces his current Global 7500. Canadian musician Tom Cochrane, presented by Rolling Stone Canada, performed at the delivery event.
The Global 8000 aircraft received Transport Canada Type Certification on 5 November 2025. Certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the European Aviation Safety Agency remains pending. The aircraft achieved several key milestones during its flight-test program earlier this year, meeting the company’s commitments to stakeholders and customers.
The business jet features an industry-leading top speed of Mach 0.95, establishing it as the fastest civil aircraft currently in service. With a range of 8,000 nautical miles, the Global 8000 enables nonstop travel between a greater number of city pairs than previously possible in business aviation.
The aircraft also sets a new benchmark for cabin pressurisation in production business jets, maintaining a cabin altitude of just 2,691 feet when flying at 41,000 feet—the lowest in the industry.
“Pride and excitement only begin to describe what the entry-into-service of the Global 8000 means for all 18,000 of us at Bombardier. Every innovation and every detail of the Global 8000 reflects the hard work, creativity and dedication of our teams. This revolutionary aircraft is redefining the business aviation landscape with its innovative design, signature smooth ride, unmatched performance and a promise fulfilled to our customers.”
Éric Martel, President and CEO, Bombardier
Despite its long-range capabilities, the Global 8000 maintains takeoff and landing performance comparable to light jets. The aircraft’s advanced wing design incorporates leading-edge slats, enabling access to approximately 30% more airports than its closest competitor—equivalent to more than 2,000 additional destinations worldwide.
The aircraft is positioned as the only true four-zone business jet offering 8,000 nautical miles of range, combining extended reach with operational flexibility at shorter runways and smaller airports.
The interior of the Global 8000 provides four distinct living spaces plus a separate crew rest area. The cabin design includes the longest seated length in its class, according to Bombardier.
Standard cabin features include Bombardier’s Pũr Air System for air quality management, the Soleil circadian lighting system to help mitigate jet lag effects, and the production-leading low cabin altitude. These systems are designed to maximise passenger comfort during extended flights.
“Today’s celebration is a testament to the rigour and dedication of our talented employees and suppliers who have collectively enabled our Global 8000 to set the new standard for speed, range and cabin comfort in the industry. This is truly a historic moment for Bombardier, our suppliers and the thousands of dedicated professionals who have brought a no-compromise attitude to this project every single day. Their commitment and dedication underscores everything we do at Bombardier – pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
Stephen McCullough, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Product Development, Bombardier
The Global 8000 delivery marks a significant milestone for Bombardier’s business aviation division, with the aircraft representing the pinnacle of the company’s Global family of business jets. All specifications and performance data are subject to certain operating rules, assumptions, and conditions, according to the manufacturer.
The first Global 8000 aircraft entered service in December 2025 from Bombardier’s Mississauga facility, which serves as the primary assembly center for the company’s flagship business jet models.
