Navigating the Future: Selangor Aviation Show 2024 Opens Its Doors

The fourth edition of the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS 2024) launched successfully on 12 September 2024, at Skypark RAC, Selangor. The event, officially opened by Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Raja Muda Selangor, is set to be a landmark occasion for the business and general aviation sectors in the region.

Organized by Invest Selangor Berhad and hosted by the Selangor state government, SAS 2024 carries the theme “The One & Only Business & General Aviation Show in the Region.” The show focuses on promoting business aviation, general aviation, and advanced drone technologies, providing a prestigious platform for local companies to showcase their innovations while attracting international investors.

This year’s event is expected to draw 25,000 visitors from over 45 countries, featuring 50 types of aircraft on static display. Notable models include the Diamond aircraft, Falcon 8X, and Piaggio Avanti. The show anticipates a potential transaction value of RM1.3 billion, setting a new industry standard.

SAS 2024 hosts 128 booths representing 88 companies from 7 countries, including Singapore, China, the United Kingdom, France, India, Australia, and Cambodia. High-profile participants include Textron Aviation, Dassault Aviation, Signum Aviation, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

The event’s highlights include exhibitions, static aircraft displays, drone demonstrations, and networking opportunities. It also features thought-provoking talks and forums covering topics such as sustainability, supply chain management, search and rescue operations, AI, and space exploration, with speakers from countries including the USA, UK, Indonesia, and Singapore.

The show’s second career fair edition connects job seekers with over 38 aerospace and aviation companies, including National Aerospace & Defence Industries Sdn Bhd, UMW Aerospace, Bombardier, and Skyways Technics Asia. A partnership with PERKESO aims to bridge talent and industry gaps in this rapidly growing sector.

The opening ceremony witnessed significant document exchanges between Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) and key industry players, aimed at driving aerospace development in the region.

Later in the evening, the Women in Aviation Awards will celebrate the achievements of women in the aviation industry. This collaboration between Women in Aviation Asia (WiAA), Business Aviation and General Aviation Malaysia (BAGAM), and Women@MAG (Malaysia Aviation Group) highlights the contributions of women in shaping the aviation landscape.

Selangor, which is home to 67% of Malaysia’s aerospace economy, is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving aviation industry. The state government is actively seeking to attract investments, promote research and development, and foster collaboration with international and local industry leaders.

Visitors to SAS 2024 are advised to plan their travel in advance, as on-site parking is not available. Parking is provided at Stadium Shah Alam, with a shuttle bus service running every 15 minutes from 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM. For added convenience, visitors can use the event’s official e-hailing partner, MyCar, which offers a special RM2 discount for trips to and from Stadium Shah Alam.
