HONOR Malaysia Unveils World’s Thinnest AI Foldable Phone – the HONOR Magic V3

HONOR Malaysia officially launched its latest foldable smartphone, the HONOR Magic V3, in Kuala Lumpur on 5 September 2024. The device, which HONOR claims is the world’s thinnest and lightest AI foldable phone, was unveiled simultaneously with its global launch at IFA 2024 in Berlin. This release marks HONOR’s latest entry into the growing foldable smartphone segment, a category that has seen increased interest from consumers and manufacturers alike in recent years.

The HONOR Magic V3 pushes the boundaries of foldable phone design with its impressive dimensions. Boasting a folded thickness of just 9.2mm and an astonishing 4.35mm when unfolded, it sets a new standard for slim foldables. Weighing in at a mere 226g, it rivals the weight of standard flagship bar phones, making it remarkably portable for a device with such advanced features.

At the heart of the Magic V3’s durability is its innovative use of materials. The device’s body is crafted from Aerospace Special Fiber, a material that surpasses both Kevlar and carbon fiber in strength. With a strength of up to 5800MPa, this industry-leading Special Fiber offers impact resistance up to 40 times greater than conventional materials. This allows for a 30% reduction in the thickness of the device’s back cover without compromising on durability, ensuring the phone can withstand the rigours of daily use.

HONOR has also introduced what it claims to be the industry’s slimmest and strongest hinge, made from HONOR Super Steel. This proprietary material boasts a tensile strength of 2100 MPa, allowing for a hinge body of just 2.84mm. This innovation creates more space for structural reinforcement, significantly enhancing the device’s overall durability. The hinge’s resilience has been improved by an impressive 1,250%, capable of withstanding up to 500,000 folding cycles. This durability has earned the Magic V3 the SGS Durability Certification, providing users with peace of mind regarding the longevity of their device.

The Magic V3 features a 7.92-inch inner display, protected by the HONOR Super Armored Inner Screen. This technology ensures the large foldable display remains pristine and resilient against daily wear and tear. The 6.43-inch external display is equally impressive, made from HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield. This material offers up to 10 times the shock absorption capabilities of regular glass, providing outstanding protection against accidental drops.

HONOR has placed a strong emphasis on user eye health with the Magic V3. The device incorporates HONOR Eye Comfort Display technology, which includes several features designed to reduce eye strain during prolonged use. These include 4320Hz Risk-free PWM Dimming, Dynamic Dimming, Natural Tone Display, Circadian Night Display, and Hardware-level Low Blue Light Technology. These features work in concert to minimize harmful blue light exposure and prevent eye fatigue, making the Magic V3 comfortable for extended use.

The device is equipped with a triple camera system on the rear, featuring a 50MP Main Camera, a 40MP Ultra-wide Camera, and a 50MP Periscope Telephoto Camera. The Parallel Space feature is another standout, enabling users to operate dual-space apps independently on separate desktops. This effectively functions like having a second phone seamlessly integrated into the foldable device, enhancing privacy and multitasking capabilities.

HONOR has partnered with Google Cloud to incorporate advanced AI capabilities into the Magic V3. These include:

AI Eraser: Allows users to easily remove unwanted objects from images using generative AI technology.
Face to Face Translation: Enables real-time translation, facilitating communication between people speaking different languages or understanding speeches in foreign languages.
HONOR Notes with AI Office features: Includes voice-to-text conversion, live translation, and the ability to identify speakers during group discussions.

Under the hood, the HONOR Magic V3 is powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon® 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, ensuring top-tier performance for all tasks. The device also includes a C1+ chip, which enhances connectivity in areas with low network availability and improves 5G network performance.

Battery life is a crucial factor for any smartphone, and the Magic V3 doesn’t disappoint. It features a large 5150mAh third-generation Silicon-carbon Battery, capable of meeting a full day’s demands even under high usage. The device supports 66W Wired HONOR SuperCharge, which can fully charge the phone in around 45 minutes. For added convenience, it also supports 50W Wireless HONOR SuperCharge.

The Magic V3 comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, ensuring ample space and smooth performance for even the most demanding users. It’s available in three attractive colours: Mossy Green, Silk Brown, and Classic Black, catering to different style preferences.

The HONOR Magic V3 is priced at RM6,999, positioning it in the premium smartphone segment.
