Sandra Lim Crowned Miss Universe Malaysia 2024

The Gala Night was a spectacle of entertainment and elegance, transforming the Majestic Hotel into a hub of excitement and anticipation. Notable figures graced the event with their presence, including YB Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Datin Wira Livonia Ricky Guing, Chairlady of Miss Universe Malaysia. Their attendance underscored the significance of the pageant in Malaysia’s cultural landscape.

Popular TV personalities Amelia Henderson and Hansen Lee took on the role of hosts for the evening, guiding the audience through the various segments of the competition with charm and professionalism. The event was further elevated by captivating performances from talented singer-songwriter Firdhaus Farmizi and the electrifying local girl group DOLLA, adding a musical flair to the night’s proceedings.

After careful deliberation by the distinguished panel of judges, which included pageant experts, fashion industry professionals, and former titleholders, the winners were announced. Gianna Tan secured the first runner-up position, with Tamara Inigo taking the second runner-up title. However, it was Sandra Lim who emerged victorious, earning the right to wear the crown and represent Malaysia at the upcoming Miss Universe competition.

The Miss Universe Malaysia pageant has evolved to emphasize empowerment and personal growth, going beyond mere physical beauty. The organization, with Datin Wira Livonia Ricky Guing the Chairlady of the Miss Universe Malaysia Organization (MUMO) and MUMO National Director Eleen Yong, implemented a comprehensive program to prepare contestants for both the competition and their future roles as ambassadors for Malaysia.

Workshops focusing on public speaking, personal branding, and supporting individual advocacies have been integral to the contestants’ journey. These sessions aim to foster confidence, resilience, and a sense of purpose among the participants, equipping them with skills that will serve them well beyond the pageant stage.

The selection process for the winner incorporated a significant public voting component, accounting for 50% of the final results. Sandra Lim’s victory was bolstered by strong public support, securing an impressive 59% of the votes. This integration of public opinion ensures that the chosen representative resonates with the Malaysian public, enhancing her ability to serve as a national ambassador.

As the newly crowned Miss Universe Malaysia, Sandra Lim received a package of prizes befitting her new status. The centerpiece of her award is the stunning “Woman Empowerment” tiara created by J & KEL’L Creation. This exquisite piece of jewelry features an 18K white gold base adorned with 70 carats of diamonds, a jade center stone, and Tsavorite accents. The tiara serves as a symbol of strength, beauty, and the global achievements of women, aligning perfectly with the values of the Miss Universe competition.

In addition to the crown, Lim was awarded a substantial cash prize of RM50,000, complemented by a RM10,000 cash voucher from J & KEL’L. Her prize package also included a full set of Make Over luggage valued at RM5,000, ensuring she is well-equipped for her upcoming international travels.

The runners-up were also recognized for their outstanding performances. The first runner-up received a cash prize of RM10,000 and a prize hamper worth RM3,000 from Make Over, while the second runner-up was awarded RM5,000 in cash and a Make Over prize hamper valued at RM1,500. All top three winners were additionally presented with exclusive METAX DX Hair Care sets from L’Oréal, emphasizing the pageant’s commitment to partnering with premium brands.
