THIRTY8 Seafood Sunday Buffet: A Culinary Journey Through the Ocean’s Bounty at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

We recently ascended to the 38th floor of the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur to indulge in a luxurious seafood feast at THIRTY8, the hotel’s signature restaurant. With breathtaking city views stretching out before me, we embarked on a culinary adventure through the THIRTY8 Seafood Sunday Buffet – an experience that left me wanting more.

Priced at MYR 268 nett per adult, this exceptional buffet is a haven for seafood lovers and adventurous eaters alike. Executive Chef Grzegorz Odolak, also known as Chef Greg, has crafted a meticulously curated menu that showcases his passion for fresh, seasonal ingredients and global flavours. Chef Greg, a Polish national with over 20 years of experience, brings a unique flair to the menu, blending European influences with the vibrant food culture of Kuala Lumpur.

The buffet began with a delightful textural and flavour contrast: THIRTY8’s house-made sourdough bread with luxurious seaweed Kombu butter. The Seafood on Ice display was a feast for the eyes, boasting an enticing selection of Camaros rojo prawns, clam lokan, blue mussels, and seasonal oysters. Sushi lovers can embark on a sushi voyage at the Sushi Counter, where the chefs artfully crafted fresh nigiri and maki rolls.

The Lobster Coconut Bisque was a creamy dream, and the grilled seabream and tiger prawn were cooked to perfection. For a taste of the Orient, we savoured the nutritious double-boiled Chinese seafood soup and the flavourful Dynasty seafood platter. THIRTY8 takes buffets to the next level with signature dishes like the baked seafood parcel and the tableside service featuring Asparagus risotto and Fisherman’s catch tostadas.

The dessert station is a sweet tooth’s dream, offering a delightful array of cruffles, buckwheat waffles, churros, chocolates, house-made ice cream, brownies and decadent cakes.

Whether you’re a seafood enthusiast or simply looking for a high-end culinary adventure, the THIRTY8 Seafood Sunday Buffet caters to every palate. The meticulous menu offers a diverse range of flavours, from fresh sushi and succulent grilled options to decadent Chinese specialties.

The experience wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Premium Mineral Water Station, featuring renowned brands like Aqua Panna, San Pellegrino, Hildon, TY Nant, Evian, and Tau which you can mix with various fruits to create a most refreshing drink!

For an extra touch of luxury, diners can also opt for the Premium Beverage Package (MYR 155 per adult) featuring a selection of wines and draught beers. Prosecco lovers can also add it on for a small fee.

Reservations are highly recommended, so make sure to book your spot in advance for this extraordinary seafood feast. THIRTY8 offers the perfect setting to create lasting memories while indulging in the ocean’s finest creations, expertly prepared by Chef Greg and his talented team.
