We recently attended Hennessy’s Lunar Wonderland 2023 on 4 February 2023 at Menara Ken TTDI, Kuala Lumpur. The occasion gave guests an opportunity to enter the exclusive Lunar Wonderland universe, which appeals to people of all ages. It is a harmonious intersection where the old and the new coexist and where unity and friendship define new meanings for the coming year.
The finale capped off Hennessy’s line-up of events in January 2023 that included special Hennessy pop-up booths at Paradigm Mall in Johor Bahru,, Gurney Paragon Mall in Penang, and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur where (non-Muslim and legal drinking age) shoppers got to enjoy various performances and engage in the interactive Hennessy activities.
The iconic contemporary Chinese painter Yan Pei Ming, who was born in Shanghai and is known for his expressionistic and monumental works, was commissioned by Maison Hennessy to bring to life the creative expression of his zodiac painting and present it as Hennessy’s Chinese New Year limited edition bottle collection in 2023.
As seen on the Hennessy V.S.O.P, X.O, and Paradis bottles, the prominent personality in the worldwide art scene wonderfully captured the idea of inclusion with his distinctive large brush strokes that give his paintings life. This request is consistent with Hennessy’s objective to preserve the Maison’s rich heritage and tradition while also going above and beyond to disseminate the message of unity during this Chinese New Year by combining modern and traditional celebrations.
We were given snacks to eat during the occasion that represented the flavours of the three renowned and iconic Hennessy cognacs. The Honey Roasted Hazelnuts and Honey Roasted Almonds brought out the gourmet and voluptuous tasting notes of Hennessy Paradis, as well as the delightful notes of preserved fruits from Dried Cranberries, Dried Apricots, Dried Baby Pineapples, and Jumbo Golden Raisins. The Wasabi Green Peas and the Crunchy Roasted Macadamias and Crunchy Roasted Pecans complemented the powerful and multi-faceted Hennessy X.O. The flavourful and well-balanced Hennessy V.S.O.P. matched the spice from the Curry Roasted Nuts and traces of brown sugar from the Gula Melaka Candied Walnuts.
The centrepiece of the event was the rotating Hennessy Lunar Carousel and the limited-edition bottle showcase. We also got to participate in various auspicious activities like Strike a Gold, Golden Chance Toss, Prosper Lion Dance, Pond of Fortune, Seal the Victory, Lucky Wheel and God of Prosperity. The event also featured exclusive Hennessy cocktails and drinks, as well as an exclusive Hennessy X.O VIP room Omakase experience.
Throughout the festive period, Hennessy also partnered with selected exquisite Chinese restaurants such as W Hotel’s YEN, Mezza 9, Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur’s Shang Palace and others, and featured a delectable selection of 12 zodiac inspired Chinese New Year canapes.
