This Lunar New Year, The Macallan encourages revellers to reflect on the customs they have developed over time and the memories they have created with their loved ones.
The Macallan has handpicked a coveted range of discerning single malt whiskies to assist make gifting as meaningful as possible. A Night On Earth In Scotland, the first release in The Macallan’s limited-edition gifting series, reflects the timeless sentiment of optimism and connection during Hogmanay, Scotland’s world-famous New Year’s Eve celebration.
The Macallan portfolio’s two core ranges, Double Cask and Sherry Oak, exemplify the brand’s characteristic flavour, quality, and passion for making outstanding single malts, and include a range of expressions that will also make ideal gifts this year.
The Macallan Double Cask line celebrates the marriage of two styles to create a distinct character that is reinforced by iconic Macallan flavours. The larger proportion of sherry-seasoned American oak casks used for maturation accounts for Double Cask’s distinct sweetness. The mastery of this union culminates in a flawless marriage of sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks, resulting in a range with remarkable notes of toffee and vanilla.
The Macallan Sherry Oak range is a series of single malt whiskies aged in primarily sherry-seasoned European oak barrels hand-picked from Jerez, Spain, for richness and depth. The Sherry Oak range is matured in a greater proportion of sherry-seasoned European oak casks than American oak casks, which are responsible for transforming the rich, fruity, and full-bodied ‘new make’ spirit into a classic single malt characterised by ginger and spice, with a depth of flavour that develops throughout the range.

Erik Madigan Heck, a renowned artist, teamed with The Macallan to bring these ranges to life in a distinctive way. Erik masterfully captured the flavour notes of each Double Cask and Sherry Oak whisky using a combination of abstract landscape and still life images, as well as his expert eye for colour, texture, and light, through the lens of his distinctive, characteristic style.
The Macallan Estate’s outdoor spaces and the Speyside vistas are the main subjects of the abstract pictures, which are a real celebration of nature. The famous Flemish still life paintings from the 17th century served as inspiration for the still life whisky graphics, which use visual representations of the taste notes, colour, and texture to bring the flavour notes of each expression to life.

The Macallan A Night On Earth In Scotland is a collaboration with renowned Japanese-French illustrator Erica Dorn that captures the universal sense of optimism and togetherness during New Year. The warm ember colour of this distinctive single malt, which was inspired by Hogmanay, the traditional Scottish New Year’s Eve celebration, honours the significance of fire at this particular time of year.
The vanilla sweetness of the whisky is reminiscent of the traditional shortbread biscuits that are frequently given and consumed on Hogmanay, while the notes of dried orange and spice are reminiscent of the flavours and aromas that permeate homes in Speyside and throughout Scotland during the holiday season.

The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old is a harmonious single malt with a characteristic warm profile that features vanilla, sweet wood, and light spice. It is created with the optimal combination of ageing the whisky in both sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks.
The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old has distinct flavours like smooth fudge and zesty candied lemon notes. Close inspection reveals small touches of vanilla in Erik Madigan Heck’s still life, with the two-tone purple chiffon fabric a nod to the union of sherry-seasoned American and European oak barrels, the distinctive aspect of the Double Cask collection.
The Macallan Double Cask 15 Years Old is an outstanding single malt with a richer, warmer flavour that has been aged for 15 years in hand-crafted American and European oak barrels.
A medium finish with lingering oak and spice is delivered by the expression, which has a golden butterscotch colour and smells of dried fruit and butterscotch that are tempered with notes of chocolate and silky oak.
Erik Madigan Heck’s still life, which features a regal colour scheme that exudes the rich grandeur of silky butterscotch and sweet spice, also captures the particular apple aroma of the whisky.
The apple takes centre stage in this image, which is a defining feature of The Macallan portfolio and is evocative of the famous Flemish still life paintings from the 17th century.
