The Lockheed Martin-created P-38 Lightning was a renowned twin-propeller American fighter aircraft that distinguished itself during World War II in both the European and Pacific Theatres of Operations. Because of its ability to manoeuvre even at great altitudes, fighter jets eventually came to be known as “The Fork Tailed Devil,” which terrified the adversary.
The new Luminox Air Pilot P-38 Lightning pays homage to both the appearance and functioning of this legendary aircraft which was a modern engineering marvel during its time.
The 42mm stainless steel case features a GMT function on the inside dial ring driven by Swiss-Made quartz movement, as well as all the characteristics of a traditional pilot’s watch, including a highly readable, easy to read dial and Arabic fonts. Just below 12 o’clock is an upward-pointing triangle with two dots that allows for quick orienting and the ability to read the time at a glance as a tribute to the original B-Uhr navigation watch of the 1940s.
The timepiece features Luminox Light Technology, which ensures that the timepiece remains readable for up to 25 years without an external power source and in any lighting situation. The watch is offered with three different dial variations and is available with a mesh bracelet or a leather strap.
