OPPO Debuts the Reno8 Series 5G in Malaysia

OPPO announced the launch of its latest Reno Series smartphone — the OPPO Reno8 Series 5G — in Malaysia on 21 July 2022. The Reno8 Pro 5G is outfitted with MariSilicon X, OPPO’s first in-house designed, specialised image NPU, and is created to be a Portrait Expert in every way. With MariSilicon X’s potent image processing technology, Reno8 Pro 5G offers a number of cutting-edge camera functions to assist customers in capturing crystal-clear portraits in even the most difficult lighting conditions.

Reno8 Pro 5G raises the bar for ultra-clear portrait shots and videos with its strong hardware and software underpinnings and array of flagship imaging capabilities.

The MariSilicon X, OPPO’s first self-developed image NPU, which offers specialised computational power for the Reno8 Pro 5G’s imaging capabilities while using even less power, is at the heart of this unmatched portrait experience. MariSilicon X’s industry-leading DSA architecture and state-of-the-art 6nm manufacturing technology enables it to produce an astounding 18 TOPS (18 trillion operations per second) of dedicated image processing capability. MariSilicon X can do lossless real-time 4K AI processing and up to 20bit HDR fusion in the RAW domain with its powerful computational capability and fast data throughput, while also reaching up to 8dB signal-to-noise ratio for photos. MariSilicon X provides an unrivalled basis for image processing by directly processing pictures in the lossless RAW domain.

To further optimize the shooting experience in lowlight environments, both Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G feature an upgraded Dual Sony Flagship Sensors — the IMX709 for the front camera and the IMX766 for the rear camera.

The Sony IMX709 is an upgraded RGBW 32MP camera sensor that was customised by OPPO. Compared to conventional RGGB sensors, it ensures a 60% increase in light intake and a 35% improvement in noise reduction. Each selfie, regardless of whether it is taken in low light or backlight, will seem dynamically brilliant and crisp thanks to OPPO’s self-developed Quadra Binning algorithm. The IMX709’s front-facing camera is equipped with DOL-HDR technology, which makes it simple to take stunning, professionally-looking selfies in any situation. Additionally, the front camera’s AutoFocus feature now offers 2x zoom thanks to the IMX709 on the Reno8 Pro 5G. With a minimum focus distance of 15 cm, the front camera of the Reno8 Pro 5G can now take extremely close-up pictures, resulting in crisper selfies.

On the rear camera, the Reno8 Series 5G comes with the SONY IMX766 sensor, delivering an enhanced portrait experience with its large 1/1.56-inch sensor size and features like All Pixel Omni-Directional PDAF and DOL-HDR.

The Reno8 Pro 5G offers a flagship-level portrait photography experience thanks to the MariSlicon X Imaging NPU and the Dual Sony Flagship Sensors. It is also the first time that 4K video recording has been made available on a smartphone in this price range. Users may record ultra-clear portrait movies at night with 4K Ultra Night Video, while portrait videos captured in bright sunshine can be enhanced using 4K Ultra HDR Video. A photograph’s image quality and colour expression may be greatly enhanced by both of these properties, which prevent overexposure in bright regions while preserving the greatest amount of detail in areas of darkness. The AI-enhanced retouching algorithms included into the software make human faces in images and videos look more realistic and vivid.

The Reno8 Series 5G is the first Reno Series device to offer a streamlined unibody design. The rear cover of the phone and the camera case are seamlessly combined using OPPO’s unique high-temperature, high-pressure hot forging method. The phone’s outstanding seamless design keeps dust from collecting around the camera region while also making it aesthetically pleasant and easy to handle.

Unique to the Reno8 Pro 5G’s design is the Prominent Binocular Camera Module and Ring Flash featured in its camera area, which highlighting the phone’s cameras.

The Reno8 5G’s 6.4-inch AMOLED display has a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio and 90Hz refresh rate and offers smooth graphics. The 6.7″ Ultra-Clear AMOLED display on the Reno8 Pro 5G, meanwhile, has a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio, supports 1 billion colours, and has a refresh rate of 120 Hz for a more comfortable and smooth viewing experience with improved interaction. Additionally, its display is HDR10+, SGS Low Motion Blur, SGS Low Blue Light, as well as HD & HDR approved for Netflix and Amazon.

The Reno8 5G has a 7.67mm thickness, weighs 179g, and comes in two trendy colours: Shimmer Gold and Shimmer Black. The Reno8 Pro 5G, on the other hand, is the thinnest Reno Series smartphone to date. It weighs only 183 g and has a 7.34 mm thickness, and comes in Glazed Green and Glazed Black.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 5G-integrated SoC powers the Reno8 5G. The octa-core SoC, which was created using the 6nm manufacturing process, has an ARM Cortex-A78 ultra-core that can run at up to 3GHz to provide the highest level of processing speed. 256GB of flash memory and 8GB of RAM are included in the base model.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX integrated 5G SoC drives the Reno8 Pro 5G’s fluid performance. The octa-core SoC, built on the industry-standard 5nm CPU, offers more potent performance with even less power consumption. Reno8 Pro 5G has 256GB of ROM storage and 12GB of RAM. The LPDDR5 read and write storage management mechanism makes its debut in the Reno Series.

Both the Reno8 Pro 5G and Reno8 5G come with a range of battery and charging capabilities that are intended to provide a quicker, safer, and more dependable experience. OPPO’s unique 80W SUPERVOOCTM is able to charge the devices’ 4500mAh batteries to 50% in only 11 minutes, and a 5-minute charge is sufficient to provide 2 hours of mobile gaming. Its battery life may be increased by up to 1600 charge/discharge cycles, or nearly four years of average use, when used in conjunction with the Battery Health Engine. This is twice as long as the current industry standard. Additionally, both handsets have received TÜV Rheinland’s Safe Fast-Charge System Certification in recognition of their exceptional all-around safety performance due to the presence of OPPO’s 5-Layer Charging Protection.

Additionally, to improve heat dissipation significantly, Reno8 Pro 5G comes equipped with Ultra-Conductive Cooling System while Reno8 5G comes with Super-Conductive Vapor Chamber (VC) Liquid Cooling System. Both features ensure that the phones can always run smoothly within a comfortable temperature range.

Equipped with several hardware and software optimizations, Reno8 Series 5G’s users can enjoy an all-round smooth experience that has been awarded an A Rating in TÜV SÜD’s 36-Month Fluency test. The Reno8 Series 5G is also jam-packed with system-level gaming enhancements for mobile gamers. In order to prevent consumers from being forced to wait on a downloading screen, OPPO and PUBG collaborated to develop the Background Update function. Users may experience their most frequently played games in a smoother, more immersive manner when combined with professional-level gaming capabilities like 1000Hz Ultra Touch Response. The Reno8 Pro 5G also has a 90Hz high-refresh mode for PUBG Mobile to allow a more immersive gaming experience.

The phones come with OPPO’s ColorOS 12.1 operating system which has Air Gestures and Multi-Screen Connect, among other features, to enable more clever and practical methods of working, which significantly boost productivity. Omoji, which can be completely customised, also offers customers more inventive methods to individualise their phone and operating system. ColorOS 12.1 includes features like Anti-peeping for Notifications, Require Password to Power Off, and Recent Tasks Protection to ensure user privacy and safety.

The Reno8 5G and Reno8 Pro 5G will be priced in Malaysia at RM 2,399 and RM 3,499 respectively.
