Mercedes-Benz Malaysia marks a significant step towards local EV adoption and sustainability initiatives with the introduction of the EQA. This dynamic all-electric SUV, the first of its kind in the compact segment from Mercedes-Benz, promises an exhilarating driving experience combined with efficient electric power.

The EQA is the entry-level to the all-electric world of Mercedes-Benz EQ. As such, it is an important vehicle along the path towards the electrification of all vehicles. As a sole variant, the EQA 250 has a combined electric consumption of 17.6 kWh/100km and a total range of 429 kilometres according to WLTP.

The launch coincides with the announcement of winners for the Mercedes-Benz x Petrosains Virtual STEM Series, further solidifying the brand’s commitment to a sustainable future. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia strengthens its partnership with PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) to accelerate the development of a comprehensive EV infrastructure plan. Building on the November 2021 MoU, this collaboration will see the installation of high-speed chargers strategically placed along major highways, encouraging EV adoption among Malaysian drivers. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is also independently installing DC fast chargers at dealerships nationwide, offering complimentary charging to EQA customers until the end of 2023.

The EQA embodies the signature Mercedes-EQ design language, featuring a black panel radiator grille with a central star and continuous light strips at the front and rear. Aerodynamic optimization plays a key role in maximizing range, with measures like a closed cooling system, smooth underbody, and specifically designed wheels.

Offering a high and upright seating position for excellent visibility, the EQA prioritizes both passenger comfort and practicality. The rear seats boast a flexible 40:20:40 split-folding configuration for versatile cargo space.

Mercedes-Benz prioritizes safety in all its vehicles, and the EQA is no exception. It features a unique acoustic ambient protection system that alerts pedestrians and cyclists of the approaching vehicle when driving in near silence. Additionally, the body structure is specifically adapted to accommodate the battery placement and incorporates a robust battery guard for enhanced protection.

The EQA showcases a driver-centric interior with the MBUX infotainment system featuring dedicated menus for charging options, energy consumption, and energy flow. The instrument cluster displays vital information like power usage, recuperation, and estimated range to your destination.

The EQA comes generously equipped with features like LED High Performance headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, a hands-free EASY-PACK tailgate, ambient lighting, comfortable multifunction sports steering wheel, and a reversing camera. The AMG Line package further personalizes the exterior with sporty design elements.

The EQA is powered by a high-density lithium-ion battery located beneath the passenger compartment. This intelligent thermal management system ensures optimal battery temperature for maximum performance and range.

The EQA offers convenient charging options. It supports AC charging up to 11 kW at home or public charging stations, and DC rapid charging up to 100 kW at compatible stations, enabling a 10-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

The EQA comes equipped with fast charging cable for wallbox and public charging stations. Customers can also opt to book a wallbox installation service with the brand’s installation partner (EVC) upon purchase of the vehicle. Additionally, EQ customers on the go will enjoy an exclusive 1-year subscription with JomCharge, where they will enjoy unlimited charging at a 50% discount at all JomCharge charging stations for the first 1000 customers. The brand will also have 13 new DC fast chargers installed in strategic dealer locations this year which EQ customers can use at no cost until the end of 2023.

The EQA comes with the standard 4 years unlimited Mercedes-Benz Warranty. While for the high-voltage battery, the warranty is 8 years or 160,000km, whichever comes first. Customers who opt to have the wallbox installed will receive 2 years warranty by the manufacturer.
