We recently headed down to Hilton Kuala Lumpur (Sentral) to sample an array of plant-based culinary creations using local produce in conjunction with World Food Day on 16 October. The initiative is part of the Hilton Worldwide “Travel with Purpose” sustainability programme. Hilton Hotels Malaysia launched a nationwide “Mindful Meals” campaign available during the month of October 2021 to raise awareness on healthy eating and responsible sourcing.
Incorporating fresh proteins and produce as well as homegrown ingredients, dishes are given a healthier twist at the following Hilton properties in Malaysia: DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, Hilton Kuching, DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka, and Hilton Garden Inn KL – South Tower.
The collaboration with local farmers is a timely and much-needed initiative to highlight the best of local produce as well as the importance of sustainable and nutritious diets, especially during an age where environmental and health risks are at an all-time high. Hilton Hotels Malaysia also prioritises working with suppliers with MSC certification.
With issues from climate change to the rise in fast food production to declining immunity systems and health, Hilton Hotels in Malaysia are encouraging consumers to choose local produce, opt for healthy and nutrient-rich ingredients, find sustainable ways to eat, and go for environmentally-friendly alternatives when it comes to food choices and buying behaviours.

The World Food Day specials have been crafted by in-house chefs of the participating outlets at Hilton Hotels across Malaysia, making use of local ingredients, vegetables, and proteins that are good for the people, planet, and community. Featured dishes include Rambungan Soft Shell Crab at Toh Yuen in Hilton Kuching, Vegetarian Pizza with locally-sourced vegetables at Tosca in DoubleTree by Hilton Melaka, and Seafood Jumbo Platter at Rooftop 25 Restaurant in Hilton Garden Inn – South Tower.
