Joanne and I recently headed over to Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara to try the new and C’est La Vie champagne brunch at the hotel’s (all-day-dining) open-kitchen concept restaurant, Kwee Zeen.

On the buffet line were specialties from the East and West such as Italian antipasti, Vietnamese Pho and Japanese sushi and sashimi, to succulent seafood spread, variety of salads and cold cuts. The live cooking pasta station offers eight (8) different types of homemade pasta which the chef will cook with your chosen sauce a la minute.

The buffet spread also includes an array of breads, roasts, delicatessen, a decent spread of local flavours and international favourites, tempting desserts and French pastries as well as various types of cheeses.

The C’est La Vie brunch is enhanced by a live Jazz performance, while the dedicated children’s corner will keep the little ones busy with lots of fun activities as well as their own mini buffet area while the adults enjoy their brunch.

The dining area is bright and cheery, with dark wood furnishings and marble columns adding a classy touch!
A very talented three-piece band kept us entertained with a few sets
The buffet line featuring very hearty mains like roast beef, lamb racks, salmon, cooked seafood, and more!
The fresh seafood was very popular among diners and we noticed that it was constantly refilled throughout the brunch
The sushi section (left) and fresh fruits section (right)
Being a bread lover, I was really impressed with this section which housed artisanal breads (which if I remember correctly are baked in-house) as well as buttery croissants
The dim sum section had a variety of dim sum and mini paos
This was very “breakfassy” indeed however being someone who enjoys eating eggs, I ordered the mix omelette as well as poached eggs
There is an extensive dessert section featuring tempting little creations including French and Western favourites such as creme brulee, madeleines, brioche, cakes, fruit tarts, waffles, crepes, ice cream, etc. etc. as well as local kuih muih

The chocolate fountain was pretty popular with the children!
A selection of authentic French cheeses! These went great with wine after the mains. In fact, I enjoyed the cheeses so much that I pretty much skipped the desserts just so I could have more cheese!
The cheeses are served with a whole variety of condiments (not shown in the photos) such as toasted nuts, and dried fruits like apricots and kiwis, etc. etc. This really allowed us to sit and chat until 4.00pm, enjoying the wine and cheese over good conversation. That’s the hallmark of a good long weekend brunch – slowly enjoying good food with great company! BTW my favourite cheese was the cream cheese (in the middle) with the blue cheese coming in second! The aged cheeses were pretty good too and very robust in flavour!

I ordered a fully loaded omelet which I paired with some greens from the salad bar, as well as two (2) poached eggs topped with Hollandaise sauce which were perfectly cooked with a nice runny yolk! Note all the drinks we had on the table – red wine, white wine, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc (beer), and Veuve Clicquot champagne!
The fresh seafood went well with the white wine, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc or champagne.
While I enjoyed the red wine with the freshly grilled beef which I had them cook medium rare!
The French onion soup is a must have as it is intensely sweet and flavourful! As a traditional French onion soup comes with cheese, I swung by the cheese section and topped my soup with some soft cheese!

We were quite impressed with the brunch is which quite ideal for an outing with your loved one, a special family meal, or simply a leisurely catch-up with friends on a Sunday afternoon where one does not have to rush.

The C’est La Vie brunch is available at Kwee Zeen every Sunday from 12.30pm to 4.00pm, priced at RM188.00nett per adult inclusive of soft beverages, or RM388.00nett per adult inclusive of free flow of Veuve Clicquot champagne, Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, red wine and white wine.

Thanks for having us!

Photos shot with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro on Auto mode with the “Master AI” on which automatically selects the best shooting mode based on the setting/ scene. While the camera is certainly capable of more stunning photos if set to Pro mode, I believe that spending quality time with your partner during a meal is way more important than spending lots of time trying to snap “perfect” photos.
