TAG Heuer has revisited its best-selling model this year to produce a stylish, vintage-inspired chronograph version that harks back to the brand’s rich automotive heritage.
2018 marks the 55th anniversary of the iconic TAG Heuer Carrera collection. Since it was launched in 1963, this model has become synonymous with motor sport timekeeping where several legendary drivers have chosen to wear a Heuer Carrera chronograph during their career.
Being the best-selling model from the Carrera family, it came as no surprise when TAG Heuer unveil during Baselworld 2018, two new stylish, vintage-inspired timepieces featuring the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 16 chronograph with a 41mm diameter: a black version with a black leather strap and a blue version with a steel bracelet.
The sportier black version features a black bezel matching the black opaline dial, which perfectly complements the minimal but striking red elements on the inner bezel rim, seconds and chronograph hands, and details on the sub dials. It is adorned with a magnificent perforated black leather strap with red stitching and inner lining that completes the entire sporty appeals of this new addition.
The blue version featuring blue bezel and dial, comes in a steel bracelet with H-shaped links for maximum comfort. This version is easier to wear and befitting in the board room as much as on the racing track.
The two sporty models comes with a vintage signature produced by the three white counters, which stand out starkly against a dial featuring a white flange with a 60-second scale. The seconds counter is at 9 o’clock, the minute counter at 12 o’clock and the hour counter at 6 o’clock.
With touches of red, the colours, contrasts and position of the counters are all clear references to motor sport. The bezel is made from ceramic, and features a tachometer scale – a crucial component on an automotive chronograph.
