[Christmas Dining Special]
Tanzini at GTower Kuala Lumpur
Joanne and I recently headed over to GTower Kuala Lumpur to try the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s Eve menus at Tanzini and The Club, GTower. My previous visit to Tanzini was two (2) years ago (which you can read here – https://timchew.net/2016/07/18/romantic-dining-restaurants-tanzini-at-g-tower/) so I was keen to see how things have changed since then.
First up was the Christmas and New Year’s Eve at Tanzini which is priced at RM245.00 nett per person.

Bright and fruity flavours that made this dish really whet the appetite!
AGLIO-OLIO ANGLE HAIR WITH BACON, YABBIES AND CAVIAR
A very lux entree indeed with the addition of the caviar!
ZUPPA DI PESCE
CLASSIC SEAFOOD SOUP
A very heartwarming Mediterranean style seafood soup with clams, squid and prawns. I happily finished this one even though there were lots more dishes to follow (2 menus remember!).

MAIN COURSE (Choice of)
STUFFED ROLLED TURKEY WITH POLENTA, STEWED LENTILS AND CRANBERRY SAUCE
Now I’m often very hesitant when it comes to turkey as many restaurants make it really dry and tough. Tanzini’s Christmas turkey main though is juicy and tender with a sweet and piquant cranberry sauce to boot! A welcome surprise indeed!
SOUS-VIDE LAMB ROLLED WITH POLENTA, CANNELLINI BEAN PUREE AND AU JUS
However this for me was the dish of the night! Pair this with a glass of red wine and enjoy the symphony of flavours! Tender slow cooked lamb that was absolutely delicious! I could have had two plates of this main! If you do eat lamb, I highly suggest selecting this main.
ORANGE CRÈME BRÛLÉE AND MIXED VALRHONA
A nice well-balanced rich, sweet and piquant end to the meal. However I went first and foremost for the dark chocolate petit fours which was delicious!
Next up was The Club GTower’s Christmas Set Dinner which is priced at RM155 nett per person. While the menu at Tanzini is more modern European style, the Christmas and NYE menu at The Club featured more local flavours.
SCAMPI & FIDDLEHEAD FERNS SALADOR
Marinated grilled sea prawn infused with classic “kerabu pucuk paku” salads
A really pretty starter of top hats stuffed with scampi and some kerabu salad. A very refreshing and appetising starter however eating it in a prim and proper manner might be somewhat of a challenge therefore I fully suggest that you just grab it with your fingers (as you would a top hat in Penang) and just place it into your mouth!
G-TOWER DELIGHT “OX TAIL SOUP”
Asian inspired oxtail soup infused with Malaysian spices & herbs
The chef got his flavours right and this soup transported me to the roadside sup tulang gerai near Upper Penang Road where we would have a hot bowl after a night out partying!

MAINS (Choice of)
CAPPONE RIPIENO “PERCIK STYLE”
Twice cooked stuffed chicken breast, russet potato cake, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach and fusion ‘percik’ dressing
Basically ayam percik.
PESCE AL CARTOCCIO
Brined king barramundi fillet infused with ‘asam pedas’ salsa verde style
This was very very appetising! As I do enjoy assam pedas, I couldn’t stop eating this main which was loaded with barramundi and seafood.
CHRISTMAS SWEET TEMPTATIONS “BANDUNG POACH PYRUS”
Poached pear in manuka honey, Bentong ginger infused with rose and mini petit cheese cake with homemade artisan chocolates
The poached pear was a tad too sweet for me although the hint of ginger struck a good balance (I drink my black coffee aka Americano/ long black without sugar) however the ice cream was nice!
If you’re looking for somewhere to have a good Christmas/ NYE dinner without breaking the bank, Tanzini or The Club at GTower Kuala Lumpur are decent options.
