Shawn Cutler Pampering Day at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Headed over to the Majestic Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 24 November 2017 for Shawn Cutler’s Pampering Day with L’Oreal haircare, Urban Decay and Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The event featured a day of pampering, indulgence and relaxation with a fine dining dinner in the evening. Invited guests and celebrities checked-in to the hotel in the morning before tucking in to a delicious lunch buffet at Contango – the hotel’s all day dining restaurant.

After lunch, the pampering started with a relaxing spa session at The Majestic Spa, followed by a high-tea at The Tea Lounge. We then proceeded to get out hair done by the stylists from Shawn Cutler, while the girls also got their makeup done by Urban Decay.

 

 

We got to try an abridged version of the Christmas Eve dinner at The Smoke House which exudes lots of classic colonial ear charm, making this a very romantic and elegant period dining restaurant indeed – perfect for intimate dates, or gatherings with family and close friends. Also makes for a great backdrop or setting for Instagram pics.

 

Prelude
Smoking Bishop Mulled Wine

A traditional winter/ Christmas drink which is popular in the United Kingdom (with variations throughout Europe). A warm and slightly spicy cocktail with a wine base with brandy and hints of citrus from the orange peel.

 

 

Soup
Cream of Watercress Soup with Lobster Meat

This was highly unusual… watercress is not the most common ingredient for a Western style soup dish but you know what? It works! Very well too! The flavours actually complemented the sweetness of the lobster.

 

 

Mid-Course
Roasted Sliced Whole Turkey
Accompanied with Cranberry Sauce, Stuffed Chestnut and Buttered Vegetables

Expertly carved on the spot by the chef. A very Christmassy dish indeed!

 

 

Main-Course
Baked Honey Glazed Cod Fish
Accompanied with Butter Glazed Asparagus

This was my favourite dish of the night. A beautiful piece of cod with an Asian soy sauce accompanying it. Great harmony of Eastern and Western ingredients in a dish! Thumbs up to the chef for daring to try something different from the traditional Christmas dishes.

Home Made Chocolate Fudge Cake with Crispy Brandy Snaps, Berry Comport with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

A decadent and very rich end to the meal!
