New European Restaurant in TTDI – 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar

It’s now much easier to find the speakeasy The Pawn Room – just look out for the entrance to 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar. The Pawn Room (which is under the same owners) is located right above it so you just take the same staircase up another floor,

We headed over to 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail recently to try out this new European cuisine establishment. 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar is under the same group of restaurants/ bars which includes Private Room (which is adjoining the restaurant) and Pawn Room (which is one floor above). All three outlets are connected thus you can easily head over to Private Room for some wine, or to Pawn Room for some bespoke cocktails after dinner.

2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar serves European cuisine in a casual setting. The dining area is split between the inner air-conditioned section, and the outer fresh air section with a balcony that overlooks the road.

The patterned tiles give a modern and stylish vibe to the interior of the restaurant. The staircase leads up to The Pawn Room.

We chose to dine in here as it was a rather warm night

Cold Entreés

Smoked Salmon

Smoked salmon served with some greens, citrus fruits and slices of toast.

2nd Floor Salad

Greens topped with a poached egg and shredded cheese.

Hot Entreé

Foie Gras

Foie gras happens to be one of my favourite ingredients and I was super stoked to see such a large piece! It was nicely cooked and had loads of earthy flavours!

Mushroom Soup

Thick, creamy and flavourful – how a good mushroom soup should be! Served with a slice of garlic toast. A very heartwarming start to the meal.

Crab Beignet

Upscaled crab balls served on a bed of greens.

Duck Roulade

This was quite an interesting appetiser which combined various flavours and textures – from the earthiness of the duck to the piquant salsa and balsamic vinegar sauce.

Seared Canadian Scallops

Plump and juicy scallops! A simple but well-executed starter.

Mains

Seared Duck Breast

Cooked to a lovely pink! Juicy, tender and flavourful slices of duck which went very well with a glass of red wine!

Grilled Iberico Pork

This was my favourite main of the night! An Iberico Pork steak cooked to juicy perfections and served with some roasted potatoes and greens. Delicious, flavourful and tender – which was absolutely wonderful for a pork lover like myself! Have this with some red wine, or beer!

Smoked salmon & eryngii

Essentially a smoked salmon and king oyster mushroom pasta which was very hearty indeed! Love the generous toppings!

Pork Ribs

Oh yeah! A delicious rack of pork ribs accompanied with some roast potatoes on the side. Slathered with flavourful sauce which was tangy and sweet, complementing the flavours of the ribs.

Desserts

Chocolate & Coffee

Chocolate and coffee are a great pairing! 2nd Floor Kitchen & Bar uses dark chocolate which gives very intense flavours tempered by vanilla ice cream. A very decadent dessert indeed but one that I recommend all chocolate lovers to try here!

Vanilla & Strawberry

This one will surely be loved by the fairer sex!
