New British Restaurant in Bangsar Baru – W1 Dining & Cocktails

[Dining & Restaurants]

The Telawi area in Bangsar Baru, Kuala Lumpur is home to many hipster food & beverage joints and the latest to join the scene is W1 Dining & Cocktails. The restaurant’s name is in reference to the W1 postcode which contains some of London’s most prized addresses – from the swanky luxury apartments of Mayfair to the retailers of Regent Street and Oxford Street, and the bustling nightlife of Soho.

Instead of the very traditional British dishes, W1 serves up modern fare in the form of small plates (think tapas!) with a couple of big plates for the mains. The backbone of the menu is British cuisine however some modern elements and an Asian ingredient or two can be found in some of the offerings providing a twist to some familiar dishes.

The outlet is has the bar section with high tables and chairs in the front

And low tables in the dining area of the establishment
Crispy Fishcake with Horseradish Cream – RM18.00

Cherry Tomato Salad – RM13.00 Topped with olive tapenade
This was one really flavourful squid which would go perfectly with an ice-cold pint of beer!
Hasselback Potato – RM10.00

Fish tikka which was a special dish of the day (and not on the regular menu) – RM24.00
Steak Diane – RM68.00
Cooked to a beautiful medium rare which resulted in juicy and tender slices of meat!
Chocolate Truffled Cubes – RM18.00
A really sinful dessert which the girls really liked!
Sticky Cola (instead of date) Pudding topped with a scoop of ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce! SINFUL but it was so good even I (the non-sweettooth) had a few bites of this heavenly dessert!
Because it was so good – here’s another photo of it!

The outlet has not officially launched but has already garnered quite a crowd especially during dinner. The food menu is short and sweet with about two dozen options.
