Launch of Modi & Rosa Italian Dining & Wine Bar, Glo Damansara
[Food & Beverage News]
Tracy and I headed over to Glo Damansara, Kuala Lumpur on 24 February 2017 for the launch of Modi & Rosa Italian Dining & Wine Bar, which was officiated by H. E. Mario Sammartino, the Italian ambassador to Malaysia. The latest F&B establishment in Glo Damansara is a new casual dining restaurant, lounge and wine bar and is a place that is suitable for both singles and families. Modi & Rosa prides itself on its authentic Italian cuisine and exclusive imported wines, and puts the famiglia or family spirit as the heart and soul of the eatery.
The man behind the business is none other than renowned F&B entrepreneur Modesto Marini, the restaurateur who brought a welcome change to our restaurant and night entertainment industry two decades ago with his first venture in Malaysia – Modesto’s. Having sold that business, Modesto then opened the iconic Marini’s on 57 located at the top of KLCC Tower 3, which remains a very popular multi-concept establishment today among expats, tourists and locals alike.
This latest creation of Modesto Marini is situated at Glo Damansara Mall and has a vastly different concept to the upmarket Marini’s on 57/ Marble8. The name “Modi & Rosa” is short for the restaurateur himself and his wife Elizabeth whom he regards as his rose, and their personal touches and influence are visible in the look and feel of the dining area and wine bar and the general taste of the cuisine.
While Marini’s on 57/ Marble8 serves fine dining fare, the concept at Modi & Rosa is one of a place where diners can relax, eat well and enjoy time with family and friends in a casual environment without dress codes. Look out for a wide range of authentic Italian food, from pizzas and pasta dishes to seasonal items, including set lunches, specials, and even a kids menu. The staff will treat you just like an Italian mama would, with open arms and a warm, gracious demeanour.
“We all get caught up with our jobs, and sometimes we need to be reminded of the most important things in life, relationships. The worse thing would be to wake up one day and regret not having taken the time to spend with those we care about. So it was decided that we needed a place for not only friends to enjoy, but a place where you could and wanted to bring the whole famiglia,” said Modesto Marini.
“Here we serve real traditional Italian cuisine. All our recipes are from Italy, and all our dishes are cooked exactly the way Italians have been doing it for centuries. We do not alter the recipes or methods of preparation in any way. This is pure goodness. Fresh and hearty food that all Italians are brought up on,” said Modesto Marini.
Modi & Rosa offers a cosy, relaxed and contemporary setting with its thick wood tables, welcoming leather arm chairs and leather seats, and an easy-going vibe. The 3,751 sq ft (348.5 sq m) restaurant can comfortably accommodate 100 persons indoors, and is divided into three (3) sections – the restaurant and wine bar which are located indoors, and the outdoor area for those who prefer al fresco dining. The restaurant and bar can be sectioned off by curtains or opened to allow the space to be converted into a larger area for events.

The photos above were shot with the Panasonic Lumix LX10.
This was my third time using the Lumix LX10 to shoot food and by now I was so confident with the “Appetising Food” mode that I used it without any hesitation and it delivered the results I desired. I was also quite impressed with the interior shots which I shot using the “Handheld Night” mode.
